No, not on HFBoards, silly. I mean who's your team's biggest rival.

Doing a little bit of research here--I want to see who fans feel is the biggest rival for their club. You can interpret the term "rival" in a few different ways and I'm not really aiming to police that here, but I will say I'm thinking more along the lines of longer-term or historic (but active) rivalries, rather than just "we're in a tough battle with Team X this year."

Please include the team you cheer for and your biggest rival. Feel free to list other rivals if you like (I did), but if you do, please specify the biggest rival so I can tally your vote properly.

I'll start.

My Team: Kitchener
Biggest Rival: London

Probably not a surprise to many, this was the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry of the 2000s though Kitchener's fallen off since. Guelph is #2 in my opinion and would probably be #1 if both the Rangers and Storm could get something going in the same year. Plymouth was a bit of a rivalry in the Mem Cup year and Windsor is Windsor, I won't dignify them by calling them a rival. ;)

Have at it!

London
The older I get, the less I care about rivalry. Used to hate the Knights. Now I don't really care as much. Plus the hockey is different now than it used to be. All for cheering for players at this point, keeps the blood pressure steady.

That being said, GO BLUE! What's your excuse now OSU???

Rival: Flint

This dates back welllll before either team was in the OHL. It’s regional rivalry at its best. The two cities go at in everything from Football, to basketball, to bowling. It’s a shame both teams never seem to be on the same cycle. 2 exceptions to that were the Covid year where the 2 were fighting for the division before the league shut down. The other being the 7 game playoff series in 2023. That was an all out war. Would be fun to do it again.

We used to live in Erie and attend the games as season ticket holders. London, by a wide margin. Why? They seemed to have a built in arrogance, and they were the best team over a long span of time. We did go to a playoff game in London some 15 years ago, and the fans were beyond rude. The arrogance of the team rubbed off on the fans. It also had to do with Dale Hunter, one of the dirtiest players to play the game. We travelled to many arenas throughout the league and universally London was the team that everyone hated.

Having said that, I'm with Ranger Nation on this. The hate is gone, along with the rivalry. It seems like London has mellowed, along with the whole league.

@Otto

Otto and I have had a few exchanges over the years. Many in the covid thread and some here. I’d have to say he is my biggest rival! But, overall, he is a good poster so I cannot hold a grudge. He is a strong contributor even if I think he can be indignant and stubborn at times. Shout out to @Otto as my biggest rival!

Team Windsor ( even though apparently we are undignified, lol).
Rival - have to say as others have said the dynamics of a rivalry has changed. Used to be Plymouth and London in that order but now it seems to be always evolving and who is the most disliked currently.
So for me it is Kitchener and Saginaw because of current climate. With a shout out to Soo, Sarnia and Flint. I guess the division thing has an impact?
London of course but who really likes London anyway?
Stay tuned as it will change as the year moves on. Be safe.
