Do we really need anymore first time NHL coaches, or a for sure Wing tie? Been done to death, it is time to try fresh outsider ideas. I don't really like that Yzerman seems only interested in people he knows, because that doesn't make them good at what they do. I already worry about that with Draper, who I like, but not sure he is the right guy thus far to be so far up in the scouting hierarchy.

I get why you want people you are comfortable with, but end of the day we should be trying to win, not finding the most comfortable person to have here.

Who was that Euro coach some of us speculated was on the running before Lolonde was hired?

Dude with the nice wavy hair? Swedish? Finnish?

Anyways what’s he up to nowadays?

Don’t mind me; I’ve had a few drinks on a lonely Halloween night wishing the best for this team.

We only hire bald or balding coaches nowadays.

I think the team is in a weird spot, since we're probably 2 years away from truly competing. You can just roll with it and try another rookie coach, in hopes of it working out, worst case you get a couple more high draft picks.

If you're afraid of loser-mentality setting in, you gotta go for a experienced coach that can motivate the guys. If this team can be motivated and play a better system i think it's a bubble team. Downside is that guys like Gallant, who fits that bill seems to get run out of town every 2 years, so it's not a longterm solution.

Dark horse might be Lane Lambert. Was linked strongly to job before Islanders hired him. Some felt at the time that NY fired Trotz so Lane wouldn't bolt for Wings. The way the team sucks under Roy lends credence that maybe Handsone Lane wasn't the issue in NY

I would consider Rickard Grönborg from Finland.

Swedish native but more North-American than many will understand.

Who could be a better fit for this Yzerman-built Team Michigan-Sweden? ;)

He is not bald and has huge beard. :D
