Actually tough to decide really. I see good arguments for both. Might just come down to team needs and I would take Makar for Toronto.

It really depends on the year (after the cup run, everyone would have said Makar but it’s been Mackinnon ever since then) but I always believed Mack is the more impact player on the avs, probably mainly due to the position he plays.

MacKinnon with his play this year has pulled ahead imo. Great poll though as it's close. Many would have send Makar up until recently or even now

Makar, he's truly generational. Mackinnon is an absolute monster himself, just right below that generational tier but he's pretty damn close.

Healthy Makar. This poll before his injury and you’re probably getting more votes for Makar

Seems often when I see Avs fans, they think Makar is better but MacKinnon is hot right now

Mackinnon was like a sub PPG player before Rantanen and Makar showed up.

Makar for me. He's probably the second best player in the league

Mack has been the better player this year but overall this is/will continue to be Makar.

Part of why Mack has been better this year is because Makar is playing through an injury that has limited his mobility just enough to make him a little less effective then we are used to seeing.

But assuming that injury recovers(Which to be fair is a decently large assumption), he'll be the best player of the two.

Strictly based off of right now, you probably take Mackinnon. But especially if we're talking about what player to build around like OP suggested, Makar is the best choice.

Interesting take considering Mackinnon has consistently been a top 5-7 scorer since two years before Makar played a single NHL game

But talent pushes other talent to get even better. You see it consistently.... Crosby/Malkin (and others), Ovechkin/Backstrom, Draisaitl/McDavid abd theres a bunch of historical examples.

Colorado are lucky to have that insame 3 headed monster
