Who would you start for game 3?

Woll or Sammy

On the road down 2-0 is a really, really risky situation to put a rookie in the net...

That said, Samsonov has just not been good enough these playoffs. Has had a negative GSAx in 6 out of our 8 playoff games, and positive in only two. -2.6 GSAx overall.

I'd be seriously considering it, because you can't really put Woll in net on the brink of elimination if Samsonov drops the ball again in game 3. Now might be the only time.
 
I said Sammy looked tired after Game 1 and sticking to that.

He has an extra day off so you have to go back to him.

Going to Woll right now is pure desperation and no real reason to as Florida hasn't dominated the Leafs.
 
It's too late ? Especially for Keefe.

Keefe likes to "play safe" and play
- higher paid players higher in the lineup (Tavares over O'Reilly)
- avoid younger players (Knies over Bunting).
- avoid Woll (although he is 5-0-1 this year) and played very well against Tampa.
- his fave D like Holl. Holl was taken out by the media, not Keefe. Fans new Holl wasn't up to par *BEFORE THE PLAYOFFS*.
- play Nylander with Tavares.


Sammy only let in one goal last night that he should have saved: goal 2. Goals 1 and 3 were team goals against.

Sammy isn't going to steal a game. I think Woll could steal a game. Ultimately it shouldn't matter.

NHL parity hockey is puck luck and draft luck.
 
I would start Woll, gotta change things up. Sammy has had his chance, his numbers suck and he’s given up some killer goals. He’s got to help the team out also. Woll should be in so we can go on a run here

Considering we have a 13% chance to win the series now. It almost doesn't matter if you start Woll or Sammy. If you don't start Samsonov he isn't signing here though, and pretty much have no other options other than Woll so.

I don't know. Dubas has us in a bad situation. lol

I would Start Samsonov and ride him out and resign him.

He was skating and taking part in practice. He might be ready by Sunday or Wednesday. Though he hasn't played in more than a month. Still, if I am coaching, I'd win or lose with Samsonov

Murray will be bought out and Sammy will be resigned with Woll the backup. If they run it back, they need to further upgrade the D.

As bad as things look, imagine how bad they would be had Dubas stood pat at the TDL.

I can't see him starting in such a big game coming off his last injury. It is swim or sink with Sammy. They need to score some goals and give him a cushion to work with. I am tired of being out goalied.

Tweaks mean nothing, if the team loses it's time to reevaluate the big 5 and put them all on the market, the problem isn't some 4th d or some bottom 6 guy.

The Leafs are WAY better than Florida on paper, they don't need more talent at all, they need guys who get it done, not "well if we just had McDavid, Drai, Makar, Hedman and Igor then we can maybe maybe win 2 or even 3 rounds!!!!"

Maybe we should start a new core of players
Sammy is a little banged up hope the next few days gives him Tim to heal.
Sammy let in one bad goal.
Other than that he played well enough to win.

Our team played great till we got a 2-0 game then didn't show up till the 3rd period.
 
Doesn’t matter who starts. There is no chance Florida wins 3 straight against us. This is a sure win. The boys will be dialed. Not worried at all. We will come back to Toronto tied 2-2 and it’ll be a best of 3.

It's a no-brainer to start Woll now when the series isn't on the line. If he wins, great it's his net now. If he plays well in a loss, again it's his net. If he shits the bed, then back to the guy who has a longer track record of shitting the bed

I think there’s a better chance that Samsonov plays like he did in game 6 the rest of the series than for a rookie to steal the series for us.

Both are massive long shots though. But at least Samsonov has proven he can steal a playoff game. Woll hasn’t.
 
I didnt see the game (thankfully i guess) did Samsonov let in any 'soft' goals? i.e. not screened, clean looks that he just missed?
I only caught a glimpse of a replay for one goal, and he looked screened on it, and a perfect placement shot above the pad, under the glove and off the post (arent they always against us)
but, i didnt get a good look at that replay either :(

Anything can happen at this point of the season. I'm also sure everyone thought there was no way Florida takes the first two in Toronto.

Team better show up and win Game 3.
 
There was 5 shots off the post last night for us and countless other prime scoring chances where Bob shut the door. 3 goals against isn't horrendous and they were complete defensive breakdowns.

The problem has been untimely unforced turnovers and not converting on our chances. The Panthers look a lot like the Jets from 2-3 years ago. They get completely dominated the entire game, hemmed in their own zone and can barely make a breakout pass. Miraculous saves from the goaltender, they get 2 or 3 chances off a turn over and just convert. They are not playing good hockey at all, some insane puck luck and very good goaltending from Bob. At some point somethings gotta give, our shooters can't get denied this much, they can't hit this many posts.
 
If you're going into game 9 of the playoffs and you still can't settle what your forward lines should be, the defensive pairings and unsure who should start in net, I hate to break it to you, you're done.

So no, put Samsonov in net. For the love of all that is good and holy, decide and stick to your forward lines and show some faith in your guys. Maybe they don't deserve it, but constantly shuffling the deck after every game isn't helping.

Yes, this is entirely directed at Keefe. Infuriating watching him getting completely schooled every single round on how to coach an NHL team in the playoffs.

Not a chance they switch. Agree with someone above, shame Murray isn't available. At this point even if he was he hasn't played in forever and I don't see him getting the nod even if cleared to play, but you sure wish the A-B tenders had both bveen going down the stretch.

Not that Sammy has been bad.
