Who would you rather face in the playoffs, Toronto or Ottawa?

Long term:

From 115 points to 111 to 102 is trending downwards.

Short term:

they're 5-4-1 in their last 10 which is worse than their season record.

Eye test:

Their roster looks worse than previous years...like they've been losing depth.

Timeline: they've been good for a while and teams typically have ups and downs ...it looks like theyre window could be closing soon.

I'm surprised you objected to me. Go to the Leafs board and it's full of people wondering if their window is soon closing.

The leafs are battling to win their division (haven’t done that since covid) and could be as high as 2nd in the eastern conference after tonight. When was the last time they were that high in the eastern conference standings?

After tonight they could be 4th overall.

That looks like they’re trending up to me

The Leafs are a streaky team this year, but I don't get the Sens.

At times, it looks like they're on the verge of becoming a very good team... and then they totally fall apart.

They're stifling AF every time they play TOR, but MTL scores a ton on them, and they gave up four goals in one period to COL tonight...

Is this a general question?

Because im sure if you asked both bruins and habs fans they would tell you the leafs.

That would be a good way to put it... Note that I said when Pierre Dorion finally got canned (remember, it took a while because of the team's sale) that it would take some time to recover from that era. They should also have fired DJ Smith at the same time but they finally got NHL coaching when Jacques Martin took over but we knew it was only going to be temporary. The goal was that the players start getting NHL habits rather than whatever hockey they were playing under DJ Dorion.

Not sure what their future could be now that Dorion damaged the rebuild like crazy but I guess it will depend on drafting and if Staios can continue to pull off some good moves. His margin for error is very thin because Dorion made so many mistakes already that would normally take decades for it to happen...

I would much rather face Ottawa than Toronto and it’s not even close. Toronto has better too end players and more playoff experience. I also think they have better depth this year than any other years

Toronto can’t seem to score in the post season.

I think I’d rather face them, even if I believe they are the better regular season team.

Imagine bragging about who has more fans lol that's not a flex at all. It matters nothing.
Imagine reading that and thinking that the point was bragging about fan base size. The point was the Sens fanbase only isn't as annoying because they're aren't an obscene amount of you, but are similar else wise.

Leafs fans seem to think this is ottawa pumping themselves up as a good team. That's not even the case , they just have the easiest poll opponent for this question in the world

I voted Toronto as battling ourselves mentally in the playoffs is a given anyways. I wouldn’t want them playing Ottawa first round as I think other than Florida, they are the worst possible first round match up for us if you compare styles. Tampa is our best match up which isn’t exactly an easy opponent either.

Ottawa fan here so you can call me bias but I think this is reasonable take:

People might rather face Toronto in the first round rather than Ottawa because Toronto has pressure of previous collapses, whereas Ottawa has no pressure.

However, if both teams were to advance, I think most would rather face Ottawa as if Toronto won a round or two, it's likely that their big guns are rolling and they've knocked the monkey off their backs...in which case Toronto now becomes more dangerous.
