Now that we're essentially guaranteed to play one of these teams in Round 1, I'm curious to gauge public opinion on who people would prefer to play.

Some people say they want to play the Lightning based on A) past trauma, and B) the Bruins have a history of getting away with a ton of infractions in the playoffs; others say they'd rather face the Bruins since they're not reigning back-to-back champs, and have a lesser team on paper.

So who would you rather play? What's your reasoning?

I think it would be best for everyone if we finally shut the Bruins up. We might match up against Tampa better but really I think we can beat anyone in the East if Jack is healthy.

Lightning simply because I believe fatigue catches up to everyone except LeBron James and Brady. They look tired and beatable

We’ll probably play Tampa but I’d love nothing more than to shut the Bruins up and eliminate them.

I'll be most thrilled with the home ice advantage. Let the opposition chips fall where they may.

In the interest of voting though...I'll go with the Lightning for no other reason than the fact we've never opposed them before in a playoff series.

Fantasy world: Smack around Bruins first. Then if the Caps can surge past the Bolts - meaning TB gets WC#2 and faces Florida - we feed on the defending champ's carcass after they barely survive a grueling, multiple double/triple OTs, 7-game series marathon win over the Panthers.

In the real world, I'd just prefer whichever team will give the Leafs the least difficulty. I'm leaning towards the Bruins but they may still be in this team's collective heads. TB has looked bad lately but I'm not counting them out until the actual moment they are out.

Not a big fan of the phrase but "Slay the Dragon" is very very appropriate here. If I had my choice, it'd be the Broons.

Had to think about this for a minute actually, but you know I'd actually rather face the Bruins. I absolutely despise that team and would love to see nothing more than for us to beat them in a series. Plus there'd be no better way to get the monkey off the back than winning a series vs. them

I think we smoke either team. Both series will be legendary. Lets not show off, but lets rest Matthews tonight for good measure and beat Tampa.

Serves two purposes. Nuther nail in the soon to be coffin and motivates Auston to be at his best to show that we actually could use him from time to time.

Tongue in my cheek of course. But I will say, I think Marner enjoys from time to time to show how he is Gretzky 2022.

Boston is a 1 line team, Tampa isnt. ...and tampa has the better defense and goalie.
Boston also has the premier shut down line in the league. If their top line shuts down the Mathews line advantage Bruins due to their superior lines 2-4 and D.

The attitude should be: It doesn't matter because the end is all that matters, which for us is Round One. Every ounce of focus and energy should be attuned to our game plan and attention to detail. That step of humility taken...I say give us the Bruins. Hope Tampa and their two plus seasons of playoffs make it through and begin the second round with an expectation that it is reasonable to outwork them, if only because their recent history make it unlikely to continue.

Our emotional quotient is going to be through the roof if we make it past the first round.

It would be something if Marner led the way. He's physically compromised, he's retreated from contact, etc, etc...What a boon it would be if this regular season's Marner, in consistent playoffs fashion, was able to also flip a switch and bring that OHL playoffs Marner out and likewise exorcise the First Round Demon once and for all.

I am a "be careful what you wish for" kinda guy. I would prefer Boston because they don't have Vasi, but really there are pros and cons to facing both teams.

Pretty hard to give the Bruins the depth at forward to be honest - they've been extremely top heavy for the better part of the last decade. I think our d is significantly better than theirs as well.

I prefer facing Boston for many reasons, mostly because I want revenge on a team that's tormented us for years in the playoffs but mainly:

- No more Chara
- No more Thomas/Task

Chara got away with bloody murder because the refs would only call him once or twice a game when in reality he could be penalized every damn shift he plays.

The new kid they got in net has nice stats but I'm not worried about him in the way I was worried about Tim Thomas or Tuukka Rask, who stole games countless times against us.

Also, Boston has lost pests who always killed us like Nole Acciari. Sure they got Foligno now but the guys one bad stride away from his back locking up for the season.

Bergeron, Pastrnak, and the Rat can only do so much and they're still good but they're not in the same tier as Matthews-Marner-Tavares-Nylander ... not anymore.

Taylor Hall? Lol, shouldn't even be talking about someone with his "winning" pedigree. Just making the playoffs is his Stanley Cup

Tbh so sick of playing Boston, I know they're weaker now but they still got their 'perfection line' intact. I don't need this Leafs team to get triggered back to the past and I don't trust NHL officials in Massachusetts.

Not in business of choosing opponents but in this case, give me Tampa Bay please.

Guess we'll see who Tampa wants with the kind of effort they put out at home. I'd probably want the Bruins they are good but have weakness's and no matter how Vasi is playing now he's healthy so he can turn it on. Of course Ullmark good play like he did in Buffalo and screw us ;)
