Makar, Morrissey and Rielly are right slopes for Canada in current form in NHL alright.

Veteran right-wing Giroux are correct right-wing in 4th line for Canada.

Veteran players sometimes correct in team selection.

Guys/Gals./hockey fans.. Byfield should be on everybody's roster. This year's, next year's and for the next decade.

So Dobson and Morrissey are stone cold locks for this team at this point right?

Suddenly, this team looks significantly better on D with their emergence.

A lot of guys starting to live up to their talent level at forward as well (Thomas, Byfield etc).

With down seasons from Tage Thompson and Jason Robertson, health concerns with J. Hughes, suddenly I'm not as afraid that the USA has completely blown by us.

They might still have us beat top to bottom a touch but the forecast for Canada has improved this season and the next few drafts for us look very strong. Haven't lost the crown yet.

He's getting there, but if the team was selected now he would not be on the team quite yet.
2 more years, I suspect you are right. I think Dach is also off the radar in the same vein for 2026. Jarvis I suspect will be an important player by 2026. Lafreniere could suddenly be put in a situation to bank points...and Celebrini has enough time to make the team, assuming he can get 60 pts in his rookie season and be at PPG prior to the Olympics. We are watching full team turnover happening a lot in these crucial 2 years.

Tage has been atrocious this season, but Jrob has been playing well and played a more team-friendly game. The USA still has the deepest scoring core with Matthews, Eichel, Tkachuks, Connor, Keller, Guentzel, Larkin, JT and Debrincat. If Jack Hughes can't stay healthy, it is a big blow to this team.

I truly don’t think the US is even close to the Canadian forwards, but perhaps I’m a bit biased.

Leaving off Robert Thomas who’s ahead of guys like Crosby, ROR, Barzal, Stone, Hyman in points is… bold. Other selections seem great. ROR has been having a revelation in Nashville this season and would still be effective in a shutdown role.

If the point is about to win games then I would have him over Bedard spot on that 3rd line

Nah we can't be bringing up Dach in any context here, this isn't the "C" team thread.

United States have skilled players in NHL like Matthews, Robertson, Eichel, Oettinger, Fox, Q.Hughes, Tkachuk, Tkachuk and Larkin minor world-class players than Canada, Czech Republic, Finland and Sweden maybe Germany are stronger than United States in the next Olympics skilled players in NHL and in DEL.

Draisartl is world-class in seven seasons and almost world's the most best player its McDavid, Draisartl, Rantanen, Matthews, Kucherov and Pastrnak in six seasons in row.

Not even close? Yeah, I say that is biased.
Team Canada is my team, when I watch the NHL I’m really cheering on guys that play for Canada, I’m 100% biased.

I still think we have the best squad through the lineup. Other teams have great players at each position, I would never say they don’t. Every other team CAN beat us, I would never argue that.

But, I believe my team is the best. It is what it is. Looking forward to seeing USA too, but they can’t touch my team ;)

Late in 2023, posters were throwing dirt on Hockey Canada's grave - what else is new. One poster said (paraphrasing), "If Bedard doesn't dominate, Canada is done".

After a SLOW start, as of tonight, 23 of the top 50 scorers in the NHL are Canadians - and the youngest player is Suzuki - so none of the next generation are in the Top 50 and the next generation is LOADED!

7 of the top 12 D Men (point wise) are Canadian.

So, if the Olympics were being held in 2024, maybe we wouldn't be doomed after all?

In the shadows, waiting for their chances, are

Wyatt Johnson
Logan Stankoven
Quinton Byfield
Connor Bedard
Zach Benson
Seth Jarvis
Cole Perfetti
Jack Quinn - if he can stay healthy
Jake Neighbours
Ridly Greig
Mason McTavish
Kent Johnson
Dylan Guenther
Cole Sillinger
Luke Evangelista
Connor Zary
Shane Wright
Matthew Savoie
Adam Fantilli
Macklin Celebrini
(* And maybe even LAF. *)

Plus a bunch of kids who have not stepped up yet.

The 2024 Draft's 1st round is full of Canadian kids.

So, again, for all the posters who wait with bated breath to throw dirt on Hockey Canada's grave...

With a month left in the 2024 Season, this is what my roster would look like. This will be close to what the roster looks like for the 4 Nations Face-off in February, with possibly some exceptions depending on post-season explosions this season and strong starts in 2024-2025:

Crosby-McDavid-Point
Bedard-Mack-Marner
Byfield-Thomas-Reinhart
Marchand-Scheifele-Hyman
Barzal-Konecny

Toews-Makar
Theodore-Morrisey
Pelech-Dobson
Power-Doughty

NOTABLE OMISSIONS:
Mark Stone
- He can easily make this team, but his footspeed and injury history made me opt for a "Lightning Rod" in TK11.
Alex Pietrangelo- Same as Stone, could easily make a best-on-best. Piet's has certainly regressed but he would definitely be viable in a shut-down role and has some chemistry with Theodore.
Nick Suzuki- Is having his best season yet and could play his way onto the team
Bo Horvat- Provides a more reliable power forward role over Scheifele.
Aaron Ekblad-Has shown a more "defensive role" on Florida this season. Put it simply, 3 seasons ago, Ekblad would be a lock for a top-4 slot, but Canada has better defencemen than him at this point.
Morgan Rielly- No need for him when Canada already has Makar, Theodore, Morrisey and Dobson providing the firepower.
Vince Dunn-Is a more exciting option than Rielly, but again Canada has all the firepower they need on the backend.

"OFF FORM"
Brandon Hagel-
Fills a similar role to a Marchand or Konecny. If either one is hurt, Hockey Canada could sub Hagel in.
Carter Verhaege- Has certainly slowed down from his insane goal-scoring pace earlier in the season. Canada doesn't really have any "pure snipers" on the roster aside from Bedard. If he hits the 40-goal mark again this season and starts strong next season, it will be hard to leave him off.
Mackenzie Weegar- Could easily replace Pelech on my team.
Travis Sanheim- If selected, provides a perfect blend of offence and defence to the line-uo. His bounce-back season is a big reason why the Flyers defence has been so good this season.

BOUNCE-BACK CANDIADTES
Ryan O'Reilly-
If ROR keeps this up continuing into next season, he's a much better 4th line centre option than Scheifele.
Jonathan Huberdeau- Has been playing better after the deadline.

Well done. What does "Off Form" mean?

P.S. Who is in net?
