I was going to say at best Kings' fans were apprehensive towards the deal.It was decided the moment the trade happened, because gaining PLD is a loss, and signing him to that contract was insane. Vilardi was the best player in the deal to boot.
Yeah, he didn't want to be there.Getting rid of PLD for anything was a win for Winnipeg.
I don't think the trade will be seen as this lopsided in 2 years.A 3/4 healthy Vilardi wins this trade alone
Iafallo was always an underrated and useful top sixer, I always said if he were on the east coast he'd be as lauded as Cirelli
Kupari is a useful depth piece with tools and maybe still some upside
mid 2nd is nice
We didn't even get PLD, we've gotten PLD at less than half his average production. Most Kings fans already said up front even if we got the juiced up near-PPG version it would basically take a fully sidelined Vilardi for it to be even. Now, it's just laughable.
Blake got woodshedded, you would think he blocked Chevy's # at this point.
At least everyone is seeing how good Gabe is now
If this were happening in 31 other markets where the hockey media wasn't controlled by 'the state' the organization and GM would be on the hot seat.
I don't think the trade will be seen as this lopsided in 2 years.
Rob Blake had to have known the reason why PLD wanted out of Columbus and Winnipeg was because he has grown disinterested in hockey and wants to be somewhere with lots of distractions / things to do.
There are a few teams that can cope with that mindset and potentially turn it around, and I think LA is one.
Not to change, but...
The rumored offer was futures to Winnipeg from Monteeal. No doubt Winnipeg wanted players now to be competitive and made the right choice.
Habs used those, or some of those futures to acquire Alex Newhook. He's injured now, but has more points than PLD.
