Boston is my first guess, I expected an eventual drop but wouldn’t have thought it would be so steep. I think some of their key guys improving would make a huge difference.
Then the Islanders always seem to pull wins out of their ass at some point late. Sorokin can drag them to the playoffs if their skaters stay healthy.
I think Ullmark wills the Sens into WC2. This isn't to say they are good, it's to say the rest are hot garbage this year. The best of the worst if you will.
It's a bit early for exact standings predictions, considering 1st in the Metro is a one game swing, and every team except the Pens have games in hand on the Devils. Having said that, I'll go with the Sens.
Granted, it's still early and struggling teams have plenty of time to string together a respectable stretch, but it's looking like another year where those who push for an expanded playoffs don't have a lot of ammunition.
I think the Sens have looked like the best team out of that group. Given their history though, NYI is going to go like 32-25-25 and back their way into it
Sorry fellow Isles fans but I do not want this level of mediocrity rewarded with another bubble playoff appearance and then a quick exit.
I hold out hope that they surprise us all and make a run to comfortably get into the playoffs as a 3 seed or better in their division. Assuming that doesn’t happen, I’d rather they sell off assets at the TDL, keep their lottery pick and send Lou packing.
