Who wins the Conn Smythe Trophy?

There is almost no way that McDavid isn't winning the Conn Smythe if the Oilers win the SC and Skinner really isn't in contention IMO.

I forgot that's the goalie's name and I thought everyone was jokingly talking about Jeff Skinner
But yeah there's almost zero chance Stuart Skinner could win it (maybe if he has multiple shutouts and McDrai have zero points in the SCF)

Stuart Skinner.
Imo the Oilers will not be able to overcome their defensive lapses (which they tend to do) by outscoring them against Florida. Skinner will need to be their key guy on those occasions.

If McDavid wins again while losing the round. I believe that cements him as the best player ever. That would be crazy to do it back to back.
No. Just no.

I got Gretzky and Lemiex ahead of McDavid by a country mile. They dominated to a degree McDavid hasn't come close to.

And awards are grossly overrated as a metric of a players' greatness since they are mere biases and prejudices of human cognition and all it's flaws

It already should have been Skinner last year.
He decided to stop sucking against Dallas last year just like he did this year.
Without him the Oilers don‘t make the finals at all.

This year it will be Bob or Skinner.

Does the NHL piss him off by doing it back to back?

Personally I think that he should get it if he's the best, even if they lose again.

I'm not at all a fan of the idea of that the second or third best gets an award because they were "due" for it, or it looks overall better that way.

How does a goalie who gets pulled after two games and misses the start of the second round get an MVP nod?

It's not as if the Oilers are pulling out 2-1 wins throughout the PO. He's getting ample scoring support and his losses have involved enough goal support to be easily wins for an average performance but he shit the bed in all three of them

McDavid or Drai for Edmonton, unless Skinner has a couple of shutouts and ends up with a >.930 save percentage.

Barkov is the frontrunner for Florida imo, but I can see Bobrovsky winning it if he ends up finishing the playoffs with the best save percentage. Sleeper pick is Bennett if he ends up running away with the goal scoring lead in the playoffs.

really hard to see anyone other than Bob from Florida doing enough to win it if McDavid doesn't

Unpopular opinion but I think Seth Jones has had a pretty massive impact in these playoffs for Florida. I would consider him to be a total dark horse for the Smythe but he is logging the most minutes of any Panthers skater. Despite some occasional brain farts he is very noticeable when he's on the ice.
