Who wins the Conn Smythe Trophy?

Points aren’t everything. McDavid has like what 4 goals?

Draisaitl has the goals so he should get the edge even if he’s behind in points by a few.

McDavid leads the playoffs in primary points (5G, 13A1). 3 more than Drai, while flatout beating Drai at ES (21 VS 15).

A1s are just as important as goals, especially when talking about the best play driver in the last 30 years.

There are only two players who have had 20 or more A1s in a playoff run. Gretzky and McDavid. The 3rd highest is Lemieux at 18. So McDavid will probably have 2 of the 4 highest A1 counts in playoff history. Gretzky 1st, 2nd, McDavid 3rd and 4th.

If it ends up being Florida v Edmonton then it's almost certainly McD or Dra. They are playing like absolute demons and have more assists than any Panther has total points.

I sort of agree. Florida has had success this year by committee.
Not just one skater dominating.
Barkov has been good defensively, but he's no point dynamo.
Same with Reinhart, if he didn't die.

Bob may of had a case if not for the first two Leaf games. Still to be determined how he would play in the Finals.

I think McDavid wins a second Conn Smythe in a row with 36-ish points.

It’ll go down as a close second best back to back playoff performance, just behind Lemieux.
Waynes?

Marios better in your opinion?

For Florida, there's a number of legitimate candidates and it all depends on who has the best Finals, since nobody has stood out above the pack.

For the Oilers, my pick would be McDavid at this point, but Edmonton will probably need to win the Cup for an Oiler to win the Smythe this year. Also, things can change depending on how the rest of the playoffs go, it is still pretty close.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that McDavid has also been a staple on our PK these playoffs.

The Oilers have had a ton of contributions up and down the lineup, certainly more than in past years, but 97 has still clearly been the most consistently valuable player on the team. Just watching his points and the role he plays in creating them makes that pretty obvious.

Looking at McDavid’s current points total over the past four consecutive postseasons—119 and counting—I had to wonder if it’s the most any player outside Gretzky has scored over a stretch of four straight playoff runs (139 points).

Lemieux had 115. Bossy had 111. Gretzky’s fellow Oilers Messier, Kurri, and Coffey had 105, 99, and 83 respectively. Draisaitl himself is at 104 and counting.

Must be, right?

Neck and neck between McDavid and Draisaitl. Right now betting odds favor McDavid but not in an insurmountable way, and hard to say how much of that is factoring in politics and weighing that they think McDavid will do better from here on out.

If Florida wins, they won't get a Conn Smythe winning team snub again. Barkov is the easy political choice, but Florida is so balanced that Bobrovsky is clear favorite there.

After last night's game, I think Barkov has to be Florida's front-runner over Bobrovsky. Bennett has a chance to be a C. Lemieux/Williams type winner if FLA wins.

McDavid or Draisatl, even Rantanen would be better conn Smythe choices than anyone on the Panthers regardless of outcome.

But we know thats not going to happen unless McDavid goes nuclear and breaks another record, somehow does better than last year.

Barkov might end up being the auto pick for Florida, or even Bob especially if they make quick work of Dallas/Edmonton.

Voting will be heavily influenced by the SCF so it’s hard to say at this point. Assuming Edmonton beats Dallas then McDavid would almost certainly win it if Edmonton wins the Cup.
If Florida wins I could see any of Barkov, Bennett or Bob winning it with McDavid like last year having a good chance.
So much depends on how the SCF goes.

No way McDavid gets another CS in a losing cause. Jmo. Even if he scored 23 points in the Finals.

Bennett has to be in the mix. He is leading in goals and has been a physical beast. Only one point behind barkov. If he leads in goals and they are only 1 point apart I think he should get it. Or Bob.

There are about half a dozen on the Panthers with a decent shot to be honest. No one is standing out, but they are SO deep with many able to make a run at it. Would Sam Bennett be the favourite in Florida if we had to pick someone? A lot depends on the Cup final.

McDavid and Draisaitl on the Oilers side. Long shot for Bouchard. The only other Oiler with a chance is Skinner if he plays excellent in the Cup final. But it would be hard to see with the postseasons the big two have had in Edmonton that it doesn't go to one of them if they win.

He is the frontrunner and will probably win because the Oilers will win the SC and all the "he doesn't have a SC" guys will spend the summer trying to figure out some other way to deny his greatness.

Some people just got to do these things which is really strange.

Even if he scored 23 points in the Finals.
Sorry but just no way he wouldn't win the Conn Smythe with 23 points in the SC finals.
