Who wins the Conn Smythe Trophy?

I dunno but despite his start to the playoffs, If edmonton keeps winning and Skinner keeps piling up the shut outs as funny as it sounds he could enter the chat 😂😂 it would be comical as f*** but I'd be here for it and I'm the furtherest thing from a skinner fan ...

Bennett's elbow😂

Seriously, Bob answered the first 2 games of round 2 in a very impressive way.

I hope that they won't win though, so I go with either Rantanen or McDavid.

LMAO...

That would be hilarious.

I don't think he has any sort of argument, though.

He lost the net to Calvin Pickard and only got it back because Pickard got hurt. He wasn't great in his first game back. He wasn't very good in Game One against DAL. He's had three good games but has otherwise been mediocre to horrible. EDM has helped him a lot in the games where he's had shutouts. He hasn't stolen any games.

He'll have to be extremely good and impressive the rest of the way (with EDM winning the Cup) to stand a chance.

Will he be able to score another goal, though? Three goals is very pedestrian at this point.

I think he's been very good in terms of tilting the ice and dictating the play. He's been good offensively but not as good as he can be. He's collected points, but he hasn't had to manufacture goals out of thin air that often.

I do agree that his goal scoring is kind of lacking at this point, but he only really needs about three more goals to have that not be a problem when it comes to winning the Conn Smythe. Crosby won the CS with six goals in 2016.

EDM's top contenders are McDavid and Draisaitl. Leon was great at matching up with Eichel, but he's had some errors that I haven't liked. If EDM wins the Cup, the player from these two who is better over the remainder of the playoffs should get the Smythe (barring a ridiculous finish by Bouchard).

Well if edmonton win it all and Skinner have 2 or 3 more shutouts? But having Pickard with 6 wins, can it be done? Whats the record with most shutouts in a playoff?

My pick today: still babrovsky

Bobrovsky seemed shaky early on in the TOR series.

Maybe it's been forgotten, but TOR did win the first two games and he gave up four goals in Game Three. Morgan Rielly rang a shot off the post with about two and a half minutes to go in that game. Had he scored there, I think FLA would have been done.

He's been good since that game, but from watching the games, I feel he hasn't had to be brilliant. He wasn't the reason the Leafs lost games Five and Seven and CAR basically got owned in Game Two. I don't think he's had to be stellar often during FLA's recent winning stretch.

I didn't watch all of the FLA/TB series. Did he make a lot of timely/key saves in that one?

I just pick him in Florida because none of the
Other players have been stellar, just a brunch of very good players, and that he played all games.

PS. Brodeur has The record for most shutouts 7 in 24 games in 02-03

I watched most of the series of Tampa Bay vs. Florida, and while he came up with some good saves in key moments every now and then, he wasn't stellar. Overall, to sum up how he played against the Bolts, I'd just say "good enough" basically. The outlier from that generalization is when he pitched a shutout in game 2. That one I can't say a lot about, because I had to go to a choir rehearsal the night of the game. It was an oddball 6:30 start (I had to leave for the rehearsal at 7), so I got to watch Nate Schmidt open the scoring, then got home in time to see the Bolts' last gasp efforts to tie the game, where there were some good chances, but either he stopped them all or the scoring opportunity didn't result in a shot on goal, and Florida had already sealed it up by the time of scoring an empty net goal to make it 2-0 with 4 seconds left, so that empty netter didn't really feel like a "dagger" if you know what I man. Just more of a feeling of "oh, well, we lost... oh, he put it in the empty net? Meh, already didn't matter." That said, he only faced 19 shots on goal to earn the shutout, so while I missed a lot of the game, that tells me that it was probably more like the Panthers suffocating the Bolts on their attack than Bobrovsky being brilliant.

If someone who actually watched the entirety of game 2 wants to chime in and say differently, feel free, however in the other four games, I'd still rate Bobrovsky's performance as "not necessarily stellar but still good enough."

There was so many deflection goals against Bob in that series, Not much he can do

Is McDavid getting the legacy vote here or has he been noticably better than Draisaitl? It seems like they have been pretty close all year long.

McDavid has been better. Drai has had some real stinkers but a few big games could easily catapult him over McDavid

Drai had a ridiculous regular season though. First year where I had more faith in him having the puck over McDavid

The Conn Smythe is a short term memory award, if he's lights out in the finals the 1st 3 rounds dont matter

Everything points to McDavid repeat

Two Conn Smythes and two final losses :(

I think the Oilers will need to win at this point for him to repeat unless he goes crazy down the stretch which is always a possibility. At this point I'd give it to Bennett or someone on the Panthers if they win again over Edmonton
