MacK, Panarin, or Kucherov is my pick.

Oilers stars need to play a better game if they want to become a contender. They can't afford to be so defensively irresponsible for the sake of offense if they want to win

With health, McDavid will win this race convincingly this season.

If he doesn't, the grace period is over.

With health (78+ games) I give McJesus a 75% chance to win. I see only Kucherov as serious competition outside of the Oilers. I guess Eichel actually could light up pretty hard with Hall on his wing although I still think he would fall short of a healthy McJesus. Maybe Panarin if they put him with Zibanejad for the majority of the year. But I think they rather split them up the speed up development for Kakko and Lafreniere, and to be fair even if they dont split them its going to be really really hard.

So, assuming all healthy its a 75% chance of McDavid winning it. Maybe this is a bit too high but considering that Drei's chanses increases if I lower McD chanses it doesn't really matter that much.
Maybe a 8% chance each for Kuch and Drai.
And then 7% chance for one of these players (Eichel, Kane, Panarin, MacKinnon, Matthews, Pasta, Crosby, Point).
I leave a 2% chance of some young talent to take the next step and start completely dominate. I thinking of someone like Aho or Pettersson.

So, that leaves us with the proability of a injury that takes away at least 7 or so games. I think its pretty high chance of that happening. Maybe 30-40% chance. Considering Drei still has something like a 35% chance of winning it even if McD is out for 5+games. hmm. All in all, that would mean that there is around 75% of someone from the Oilers winning the Ross so thats my guess.

Outside of a complete outlier season from Kucherov in 2019, McD has either won the Ross or has been within a couple of points of first place. He was on pace for 124, Drai was 127. I'd say it will be an Oiler pretty easily.

He basically has 3 Rosses in a normal year. The only reasons he didn't win the others was because he was (a) injured or (b) a rookie. Think about that

He outpointed the likes of Panarin, MacK, and Pasta who were having career years while missing 7 games. He is so above everyone in the league outside of his own linemate.

The McD disrespect is crazy right now. You don't even have him in your poll example super disrespect OP. Neal??? LOL come on man

A player from the RNH-McDavid-Kassian line and the Kahun-Drai-Yamamoto line will win the Ross, Lindsey, Hart and Rocket

2015/16 - rookie season + injuries
2016/17 - played full season: won
2017/18 - played full season: won
2018/19 - complete outlier season from Kucherov not achieved in over 20 years (he would have won had it not been for that)
2019/20 - injuries + close pace with Drai

I think it's hilarious that you exclude Mcdavid for Oilers options and put Neal. Not sure if that was intentional...

My pick is Mcdavid.

Looked like a joke to me. I agree though. McDavid will win it this year. If not, there's a good chance Draisaitl will be in contention.

MackInnon so they can finally run out of excuses to give him the Hart.

Jobbed this year.

Yes, if MacKinnon can finally crack 100 points and ever win an Art Ross, he might actually win the Hart.

Things are looking up for him though. He might not have to ever do either because enough people have built up a false narrative about him getting robbed twice and he’ll eventually get one in a year he won’t deserve it because he’s supposedly “owed” one.

Personally, I’d like to see him get over the 100 point obstacle and get higher than 5th-8th place in the scoring race or even lead the league in PPG once.

McDavid was also coming off a pretty horrific knee injury that was far worse than initially reported.

Drai had to put the team on his back early and at many points during the season. I even properly called Drai winning the Art Ross early on last season after seeing him carry the team early on.

I expect a motivated and fully healthy McDavid this season who is likely just beginning to enter his prime now.

The way your describing it is actually the false narrative. He should’ve won the year the Hart was given to Hall. Not this season, Draisaitl had the better case.

Also he’s been over a 100 point pace in two seasons. In 2017/2018 he was over the pace, but missed games because of injury and this year he would of eclipsed the 100 point mark if the league wasn’t shot down.

It’s gonna be Mcdavid. He was pretty close to Leon last year and wasn’t even playing at his best/healthiest.

Maybe Mackinnon could come close, but I don’t see anyone else that has a chance against Connor.

Panarin was more valuable than MacK was if you ask me

Mack carried his team to the playoffs which makes a huge difference for me. Majority of the "better" players on his team were injured and missed 10+ games.

Panarin had a great debut in NYC but his team also missed the playoffs.

McDavid or Drai. Only other realistic option is Kucherov. MacK has never finished higher than 5th in pts and hasn't been anywhere near a ross in his career so until he proves otherwise, he's not a threat to win.

I mean Kucherov just scored 128 points a year ago? It's fine if you pick McDavid - but to claim no one has a chance outside of Mack and ignoring Kucherov seems silly.

I mean he only won the Ross twice in 5 years - and didn't deserve it any of the other years. Your post seems to imply he lost out on some Rosses he should have won, which isn't true.

His rookie season he was a rookie but not close to Ross.
2017 and 2018 he won.
2019 he got beat fair and square by Kucherov, comfortably.
Last year - he also got beat fair and square by Drai.

I don't see how injuries cost him a single art ross. He missed games in 2019 and 2020, but both years his ppg was behind. Could he have won playing all games? Maybe - but since his ppg was behind, you don't really call it that way. It'd be akin to saying Crosby could have won the Ross in 2008. Could he have? Sure maybe - but considering Ovi beat him in ppg in more games, you don't really call that.

There's also a ton of talent in this league. If someone like Kucherov and Drai can have career years and best McDavid - no reason that talents like Matthews, Eichel or Mack couldn't have career years in the near future too where their best might shoot up significantly.

The McD disrespect is crazy right now. You don't even have him in your poll example super disrespect OP. Neal??? LOL come on man

It was clearly a joke lol. No need to get so worked up...
