Without Heiskanen, Finland will not win a single game and if they score more than in the 2016 WHC, that’d be a success.

Finland will lose all of their games, I am ready to put my money on it. Outside of a few elite forwards, they’re vastly inferior to other teams. Look at that D, it’s worse than Czechia.
That's a low ass bar! Our D is currently putrid (I do believe it is rising though).

Finn's are such a pain in the ass that I could still see them doing well but, on paper, they are at a Czech level going into this (because of injuries). I REALLY wanted to see Heisk with all those forwards.

Yes, they overachieve quite often, but in this tournament they’re going against such massively talented teams that the probability of an upset is low

Canada.

Obviously, I'm relying heavily on them being carried by Crosby, McDavid and MacKinnon. Because this Canadian team isn't as deep as past editions.

I thought it was going to be the US. But after reviewing the rosters, I think it's pretty even between Canada and the US. I'm choosing Canada.

Side Note: There is a TON of talent missing from USA/Canada's roster. Schiefele, Duchene, Logan Thompson, Suzuki, Harley, Troy Terry, Tage Thompson etc.

Their dinosaur ways will be exposed again.
Please.

Canada won 2 of the last 4 World Championships + 2 of the last 5 Silvers.

Canada has won 2 of the last 4 World Juniors.

Canada has won 2 of the last 4 U18's - and we can't even send our best. We will likely win this year as well.

Someone calls Hockey Canada "dinosaurs" and now everyone throws the word around.

Fun stat.. 8 out of the 36 presidents trophy winners have won a Stanley Cup. Playoffs and international tournaments playoffs are A whole different animal. Anyone can beat anyone. Look at Latvia beating Canada at the jrs a month ago in Ottawa.

The last works it was painfully obvious the best 3 paper rosters were Canada, USA and Sweden. Czechs and Swiss in finals. At the most recent juniors it was clearly between Canada, USA and Sweden on paper. Finland on those finals. Those examples are not even a year old. Then look at all the upsets at the best on best Olympics or team Europe making the world Cup finals..

Very rarely do I see a paper champ run over a tournament.. only examples I have are 2005 world Juniors and 2015 world championships. Those teams came in as favorites and ran the table.

Give yer balls a tug.

Why? I didn't like some of Canada's selections, Hagel, Bennett, Parayko, Montembeault and Sanheim were just okay selections imo. I think there were better players to select from. Just like team Canada World juniors, they skipped out on better players.

With Quinn Hughes skipping the tournament due to injury I think it helps a bit, but I still think US takes it.

I'm tugging away here, time for a cigarette and pass out.

Have to pick Canada. If you have McDavid, MacKinnon and Makar, and you can make it so that at least one of them is on the ice at all times, how is this team not the favourite?

Anyone could win. These are NHL players playing nhl rules on nhl rinks. A team could get good bounces, hot stick, hot goalie, specials teams results. It is just a few games, we have all seen even the worst nhl teams go on a 3 or more game winning streak.

Canada has the best group of forwards imo. If they can perform like it I think they win. But no shock if any team won this.

There was a lot to go from other than John Coopers favorites.

Robert Thomas, Mark Sheifele, John Tavarez, MacKenzie Weegar, Noah Dobson, Logan Thompson.
I agree with Logan Thompson and Sheifele should replace Marchand.

The rest of the team, minus goaltending, is awesome.

I think near the end or the 2nd half of the tournament we see the two best players in the world on the same line. McDavid and MacKinnon could be unstoppable especially if Cooper ups their minutes later on (which he probably will)

Rooting for US, but cannot deny the insane talent CA has; talent usually wins out. CA also has an underrated bottom six—Hagel, Cirelli, Jarvis, and Bennet are worker bees with skill.

In truth though, all four of these teams are very talented. Too bad Russia isn’t in the mix.

Does anybody really care TBH? I know Euros love the world championships and these tourney's, but I hope CAN gets kicked out quick.
