Probably a wild card team that is seriously flirting with a wild card spot.

I see Detroit for some reason. I think what maybe should happen is Detroit trades for Kessel, but then does a third trade at 50% if they don't see them making it past the post-season.

I wouldn't mind him in La for a playoff run. We need help on the pp in a big way

I'm trying to find a team that could trade for Kessel. Logically some cap should be going back the other way and the team needs to believe that they can reach the playoffs. Obviously Yotes will get some picks in return aswell.

My best fit so far is Lucic, but I don't believe in it. Any takes?
If CGY is in a good position come playoffs I could see them looking at Kessel, not for any massive payment though. Flames are weakest at the RW position and have been for a long time. He would fit in great on the 2nd line IMO.

They would definitely keep Lucic for the playoffs, he's a beast when the games get physical. As things sit now the Flames would have enough deadline space without sending salary back.

I’d actually welcome Kessel back to Leafs but I know he doesn’t wanna come back here and don’t blame him.

I was thinking Monahan+ for Kessel(50%)
And maybe Calgary could look elsewhere for extra help(A vet 3rd/4th line C like bonino, better Dman than Zad) giving Monahan would give him a change of scenery and maybe Ari's W's will help him better than playing with the W's he's gotten this year, give us some cap flexibility to add more pieces

He’s on 60pt pace on the worst team in the league. He’s not 2016 Kessel but he’s not done.

I really like Phil for what he did with the Pens and being a bit of a character. But a guy famed for a lethal twister and great wheels has issues when the wheels and shot disappear, more so a terrible defensive player who wins few or no battles.

He has A+ vision, so there will be assists here and there also on a poor team where someone has to score. But a team that wants to make noise in the playoffs doesn’t go for Kessel anymore. At least that would be dumb.

Riding out his career and Iron Man streak in a low-pressure environment is probably exactly how it should be.

As a Pens fan who appreciates Kessel but knows he can never return to Pittsburgh because of the Sullivan thing, I'd like to see him go to the Oilers.

With one of Draisaitl or McDavid at ES plus regular PP time I think he's capable of being their 3rd best offensive option, ahead of RNH. And he never gets skunked in the playoffs - always produces something, and usually pretty well. Oilers don't have much in the way of proven playoff scorers.
The problem is that you can't be giving Kessel first line minutes at even strength due to how terrible he is defensively.

Depends on if Monahan has any value to Arizona, if we are paying to dump him and paying to acquire someone like Bonino then I'd rather just keep Monahan as a 3/4C and maybe move him in the offseason. Monahan has been improving lately, if he keeps improving we might even get something back in the offseason without retaining. Also, I really haven't liked Zadorov so far but he might be more valuable in the playoffs when physicality becomes more important.

Sure you can. Just balance him out by putting a good possession player who can do the dirty work like Hyman on the other wing.

Kessel has always been bad defensively, but he's also always thrived when balanced out by a wing like that. In Pittsburgh it was Hagelin.

I'm taking the defensive player in Bonino over the guy who hits posts more than scores any day for playoffs, I'm thinking a better defensive defender as well so that Zad/Gud/whoever can be swapped in/out throughout the ending of the regular season and playoffs, if we go into the playoffs with Zad/Gud as the 3rd pair and not much help on defense/playmakers in depth form we're not going far, but I'm not a GM and it's not like I know what the Flames need we have 4 solid top 6 guys with not much scoring depth after them, Kessel would either help out on the 2nd or 3rd line(Mang-Dube-Kessel or Mang-Backs-Kessel) with Coleman and Looch as the LW/RW on the other line
