I don't want either considering the rumored asking price. Would be much cheaper to get Evans and Savard out of Montreal. Evans has one less goal than Brayden Schenn, 9 less points and costs 1.7 against the cap. Savard can play top 4 RD whereas Luke is more of a bottom pairing. Oh and Evans is a plus on an awful Montreal club

If the price for Luke is reasonable like mid round pick. Then I don’t see why not.

Brayden needs to be fair as he is no longer the player he once was and his asking price looks closer to Rantanen.

RIP to the third one, Luke ate him :((((

If Luke could help Rielly play like he did 2 years ago in the playoffs and come pretty cheap I would take him.

With McCabe and Tanev as your top pairing, at least in a shutdown role and OEL going down to the third pairing, added with the play of Stolarz I think it becomes pretty good.

Your points were so good you had to say them twice

I'm holding out for Danke Schenn, a very gracious, appreciative player... great in the room. Bend over backwards kinda guy.

If only we knew who was really available and to who. If it were an even playing field, then great. Some teams have difficulty trading within the division, and the optics of making Toronto better would be a PR nightmare. If Evans and Savard (if available) are great value, why would MTL offer that on a platter?

I dont want either of them .
Wanna get faster not slower
The leafs arent exactly chopped liver right
If they add get the best guy on the market, worthy of a first place team

Unless both can be acquired dirt cheap, they can stay on their respective teams IMHO.

'Dirt cheap' is below the rumored asking prices.

Brayden I can see happening.

First, Treliving finalizes the deal on Trade Deadline day and we all assume that means the end of JT in Toronto (as in, they won't re-sign him).

Schenn will then get plugged into the top 6 - likely 2C with Tavares on the wing - because no Toronto coach would ever dare considering dropping any of the big 4 down a line. And because Brayden is the big acquisition he's got to be put in the best possible position to make Tre look good for getting him.

Then in the off-season just before July 1st, the Leafs announce JT has been re-signed to something like 3x7M. They also extend Knies at 6M (or whatever), Mitch at God-mode money and we now have a top 6 that costs just south of $60M.

Treliving spends the rest of the summer trying to find depth scoring with about $600k cap space to spend on it.

Short version: I can see Brayden here but it won't end well.

Luke should be free really like a future considerations type of deal only averaging 15 minutes a game is like 12th among Dmen whose played games for Nashville. plus he has an extra year on his deal which to me would actually be a detriment to his value
