Semis last year, conference finals the year prior. There are a lot of fans around the league that would gladly put up with that.

Especially if you were around through the 8 years without any semblance of playoff hope.

He wouldn't have had it to begin with with a healthy Callahan.

100% agreed, but with Callahan out and going with 3 alternates I think it'll stick with Nash/Richards/Staal

Brad Richards has a greater chance of being bought out at the end of the season than having the "A" stripped from his chest.

Staal & Girardi are the elder statesmen who are deserving of recognition as the team's leadership.

McDonagh might be a dark horse for this distinction. Rick Nash, I'm not convinced at this point...

That means essentially nothing because there is a 99% chance he gets bought out at the end of the season.
