I was listening to the replay of the Power Play on NHL Radio this morning. Anthony Stewart was asked about Tocchet taking the job. He went on to explicitly mention Shaw and Laperriere as candidates as well. Plus, if they are looking for a teacher as the coach after all the glowing words said by Briere regarding Laperriere, I would lean there unless Mike Sullivan becomes available.

Great now you are going to make me have to make a tough choice. I will go with Laperriere until Sullivan becomes available. After that I might change my mind.

Whoever it is, he's going to fail in the end. I voted Lappy because it would be the most Flyers selection.

I both hope for and am against Carle. He would propably be the best one, but he would have to adapt The Flyers Identity and Culture. I doubt this would do any good for his coaching style.

Then again does it really matter who coaches next? The team is a mess and is going to be bad for multiple seasons barring a miracle. The next head coach is not going to survive this period.

Voted Tocchet because that's what I think they'll do. They'll see that as some kind of "big move".

If not Carle, I hope they find an up-and-comer with fresh ideas. So sick of the re-treads

From what Briere said in his presser, a younger guy would be needed. These players of today do not respond well to the type of stuff that the Old Guard uses. Plus whoever takes the job is going to need to be patient and a teacher. Like it or not, the Flyers are going to be doing a fair amount of player development at the NHL level. Carle might work but he has a sweet deal where he is right now. IDK if he's ready to give that up for a job like the Flyers have to offer. Maybe a guy like Halpern from the Lightning?
