wouldn't be surprised to see manny paired with an older, experienced associate coach in the vein of the "pat quinn mentorship model" that they (ownership) wanted for linden.

dan bylsma fits that bill and has the jr/allvin pittsburgh connection, as does michel therrien.

but funnily enough, so does a guy manny would know very well - alain vigneault.

Bylsma wasn’t in Pittsburgh when Rutherford was there. He was fired before Rutherford was appointment GM. Allvin was there but was in the European side of things and wouldn’t have had too much interaction.

If our assistants do in fact go - I wonder about having Malhotra in charge and bringing in Mike Velucci (or someone like him) to be an experienced assistant or associate?

JJ Redick won 50 games for the Lakers this season and he had no head coaching experience ever except when he coached his sons under 13 basketball team he is 40 years old

he’s kind of touchy about the lack of experience thing though

seriously though, best case scenario is keep adam foote. should keep hughes happy, if he works out great. if he doesn’t, he’ll be turfed by the time manny is ready.

I wouldn’t be shocked if some combination of Malhotra and Velluci are part of the next coaching staff. Possible Manny the head coach and Velluci is named associate.

I wonder where you got this great idea from? ;)

Can’t see Yeo or Colliton coming back.

I’m sticking to my guns and saying it’ll be Malhotra. I also think he’s the right pick and it’s the right time.
Would be nice if Foote is willing to come back and be an assistant to Manny. Add another vet assistant and that might actually work.

So here's the list of top 10 wins by Canucks coaches all time, according to Chat GPT.

Alain Vigneault 313 wins
Marc Crawford 246 wins
Pat Quinn 229 wins
Harry Neale 142 wins
Travis Green 133 wins
Rick Tocchet 111 wins
Willie Desjardins 109 wins
Bob McCammon 66 wins
Tom Renney 63 wins
Roger Neilson 53 wins

AV is retired isn't he?

I do believe at one point a part of the fan base really wanted John Stevens to be head coach as well around the time we were looking for one post AV?

John Stevens turned out to be a shit head coach, he had enthusiasm of a chocolate covered onion.

There’s rumors Foote has some HC offers to go elsewhere. I also wonder if the Canucks might not join that group and offer him the HC role.

(I still think it’ll be Manny, and that Foote will move on - but it wouldn’t shock me if the Canucks made an offer)

A lot of people (myself included) loved Scott Arniel

…then it looked like we were all dipshits.

…now it’s flipped back to where it doesn’t look like we are all dipshits (even though we probably are but for other reasons).

Interviews rather than offers. And Dhaliwal was pretty effusive that it was not a large total.

I wonder if the team will go with a hybrid apporach:

Malhotra as the head coach and Laviolette as his assistant (but paid like a head coach)

That would ease Maholtra into the job I think.

I like the Malhotra/Vellucci combo and they’re both in a position in their lives where they both would be happy to be associate coaches.

I remember when Trent Cull was the only one who would take the Utica job. He was like 14th on the interview list.

Im kind of expecting something like that. A whole bunch of Dan Bylsma's who want to get their name out and basically interview us, then we settle on our 9th choice.

But i'll say it'll be like temu David Carle. Some guy Scott Young recommends from the college ranks out of left field.

Somehow he has a connection to the Penguins and somehow Velluci gets passed over again. This is the way.

The CBC headline said it all: "Canuck chaos continues into the off-season".

Spurned by their coach they wanted back; can't sign their 2023 first rounder; and can't quell the rumors that Quinn Hughes will want to leave before his contact is up. Add to that some rumblings about the Aquilini's wanting to sell, and there you have it--another Canuck episode of 'how the world turns'.

Why would anyone want to come here? But obviously somebody has to be behind the bench in September. But I note that of the eight coaching vacancies in the NHL--Vancouver is rated as the 'least attractive job".

What's Ted Lasso up to?

Pesky NHL media (CBC hahaha) stirring up trouble.

At this point even its real or phony, Quinn Hughes needs to make a statement gushing about Vancouver to get some love back in the market and help attract some good vibes and more importantly, NHL talent.

Tell Fitz your sorry didnt mean it ahead of time then go cut a WWE promo on New Jersey or something.

Pens fan here... Mike Vellucci makes sense. Him and Rutherford have a history, and JR/Alvin have deferred to people from the Pens organization. Vellucci has held pretty much every position - except head coach in the NHL. And it's not like Rutherford hasn't hired a guy with a similar profile before (see: Mike Johnston).

Im not sure Vellucci would be happy with the assistant coaching gig again. Especially to a HC he should beat out on resume (Malhotra).

Laviolette, on the other hand, needs a reset. He is also familiar with Rutherford so he could accept a lowered position in an organization he trusts.
