Who was the better player overall and at their peak? Pietrangelo or Shea Weber?

I think you're gonna see Weber win this one handily for peak and career but he really shouldn't. I'm not saying AP should win this poll either but it's actually very very close. Different types of players and if you take team accomplishments out of the mix (AP winning 2 cups and Weber losing 1) neither have a hardware advantage over the other.

I'll vote Weber peak and AP career but I expect a Weber for both landslide.

I went with Weber because he lost two Norris' by small margins (and was robbed of the 2011 one), Pietrangelo never came that close.

Tho Pietrangelo was the #1 defensemen on two cup winners, so that's fairly significant.

Weber was a solid piece but fairly limited overall IMO. He was good defensively, and had a big booming shot offensively, but he was really mediocre in transition (where contemporaries like Keith, Doughty and Karlsson just murdered him), and also below average as a playmaker.

Weber arguably should have won back to back Norris trophies in 2011 and 2012. I felt he was robbed both years personally. The guy averaged EIGHTEEN goals a year while being excellent defensively.

Norris Voting finishes: 2, 2, 3, 4, 4, 6, 7, 8

Pietrangelo was more of a "top 10 guy" whereas Weber more of a "top 5". Both of these guys were very good but I don't think it's ever been accurate to say that Pietrangelo was ever the best or one of the very best (top 3) defenseman in the league.

Given the opportunity I'd bet Blues fans would have much rather had Weber for his prime years over Pietrangelo.

Pietrangelo was a super good defenseman, but Shae Weber is at least one tier above him, maybe two

Are not both franchises playing a team game ? If so, that question makes no sense.
