Who was better this year? Michkov or Bedard?

Who was better this year?

Michkov. While putting up good offensive numbers, he was being taught how to play with a defensive conscience. Imo Bedard took a step back this season from his rookie year.

Michkov slightly. Bedard is a PP merchant and is awful away from the puck. Empty points guy. Obviously playing for a bad team and being 19 years old will do that for you, but I think Michkov is more valuable outside of scoring points, and really the scoring is pretty much even. You could even give Michkov the advantage because he plays less and scores virtually at the same points per game. More of a driver also.

Can we talk for a second though how Michkov goes 7th behind a number of very average players and Bedard is called generational by the Canadian media? Bedard's not even the best from his draft class by year 2. When is the media going to repent for how they slandered Michkov and propped up Bedard to be something he's not?

Michkov easily.
Easily? Why?

I can’t decide. Bedard plays a bigger role on his team so leaning that way.

I watched Michkov a lot I think he is a huge threat offensively. I feel like he is almost more likely to score than Bedard. I don’t think he is more capable of creating chances though.

nazaar was better
Nazar was good because he met/exceeded people’s expectations more. Bedard was a much better player than him though, and he was better than everyone else on the hawks. Some marginally, and I expected more.

I do think it’s funny that’s some absolutely pathetic people here are constantly writing him off, and exaggerating his deficiencies while pretending they don’t have some ulterior motive.

Looking forward to next year.

Not really. Donato and Teravainen had basically the exact same point totals combined as Konecny and Couturier (the 2 other highest scorers on each team)
Konecny is currently the best player out of all six of them. I think that’s what he means by being on an island.Michkov was not the best player on his team while Bedard was.

I think it’s kind of funny when people even mention donato, just shows how much you didn’t watch the team. He absolutely had a great year but to ignore the games and look at point totals as if he wasn’t taking advantage of 3rd line matchups for most of the season tells me a lot. When donato got promoted to the top line his production sank. Tuevo never even really got an extended try out there because he was so bad. Bedard needs some help those two can’t provide clearly. He gets swarmed as if the opposition has nothing else to worry about.

Michkov as a winger definitely impressed me, but it wasn’t much of a comparable role at all, from the numerous games I watched. People are making space for him and he’s taking advantage of it. Really great player in the making.

I think Michkov has everything to be better than Bedard. I watched them both in person at the IIHF 2019 and Michkov was far more dynamic of a player.
