It's really more just internet tough guys than anything that actually happens in real life. I've rarely seen anyone chirped for their choice in equipment, the only exception is the d-bags who would get chirped anyways (guys who play dirty and/or chirp themselves) who ALSO wear flashy/expensive equipment, in which case the Ovy comments are just too easy. I do find it funny seeing terrible players with totalone skates, eagle gloves, etc., but won't specifically chirp them about it.Apparently in some parts of the country (or Canada?) if you stand out at all you're supposed to get constantly taunted and injured with cheap shots. Maybe that's why guys like Richards and Ellis are whining about rookies coming into the NHL with personality.

I mean there is a reason a lot of people and NHL players don't do it and it is b/c they dont want to get chirped. IMO I never want to look like I am trying to hard. Just last night we doing tryouts for our league and there was a guy with white gloves on and I said to the other captains that there was no way I was taking the guy with the white gloves no matter how he played...
White, black, and yellow laces don't stand out too much. Pink Laces stick tape etc are probably the one big exception to bright colors... are great on Skate for a Cure nights/weekends teams have an October is Hockey Fights Cancer Month. I've also seen quite a bit of female players wear them year round.

Why do you (or anyone else for that matter) get so wound up over something like this?I can only assume you haven't experienced much of life to know what is worth fighting about and what isn't.
I wear white inline skates with blue laces, just so you know.![]()
