One thing with Levshunov, coaches say he's got a great attitude, work ethic and a real commitment to getting better. I know.. Coach speak, but still, taking it at its word there. The year to year progression has been pretty remarkable in my opinion. He's had to make rapid adjustments every year. I think the decisionmaking can be improved, albeit it's one of the hardest things to project. Maybe my own bias, but I find it less concerning than if he was a GTHL/CSSHL -> OHL/WHL kid where I expect a bit more polish. Belarus U18 -> USHL -> Big 10 is such a steep path.
So does Bogosian. Levshunov will be a long term NHL defenseman. I just see it as a depth guy.

I think he's never going to have the brain to be able to be a 1D and I don't think the offense will ever be high end. I feel like his best case is like Weegar and I don't think Weegar is a 1D.

I agree that he has all the "tools" though, in the sense of size, skating, shot. I guess I just get tired of everyone projecting D that are drafted Top 5 as 1D. Levshunov "could" become a 1D because he has the tools to do it, I wouldn't project that though.
I don't either but if the switch flips he's absolutely the guy.

Demidov's agent said he is good to go for the combine in June and won't require surgery. From reports, it seems like a nothing burger.

I absolutely love this kid and will be heart broken if we don't get him. Elite hands, amazing vision, really strong lower body, and amazing offensive instincts. This kid will be a 100 point scorer, I am sure of it.
No offense to his agent, but I would want to see detailed reports about the nature of both injuries to that same knee. I'm interested in what he actually measures at because he looks bigger than listed.

It's funny to me because all year I was Tij is a f***ing animal and now I'm like Tij in the top five?
You don't want to draft a player who's a "f***ing animal" ?

Because you literally can't use those words to describe any of the other top prospects in the draft

He didn't produce better than Michkov did. Michkov was 1.82 PpG in his D-1 year, Demidov was 1.45 PpG last year. While Michkov spent his draft year entirely in the MHL, Michkov spent his entirely in the VHL/KHL.

You meant Demidov? Yes he had better ppg than Demidov in his D-1 year but in playoffs Demidov has produced better (both D-1 and draft year). And Michkov did play in MHL playoffs in his draft year (5 games 4+3 and D-1 year 17 games 13+4). Still I´m not suggesting that Demidov is or will be better but just pointing out that even if it is MHL those numbers are special from player his age.

According to his agent, and/or Russian doctors. This is the second knee injury this season for him. The knee is a huge concern, and there's absolutely NO way him, or his agent, tell the truth about it this close to the draft... You draft him at 2, and he's getting his knee scoped a week later. What then?

Then it heals and he starts to play again in Russia after it's healed? It's not like he's getting his knee chopped off.

Has anyone here actually WATCHED the video of his knee getting f***ed? Color me skeptical of the diagnosis, people. Knees aren't supposed to bend that way.

Same knee he injured in October. It's a huge concern.

He was on crutches for the championship celebration, with a walking boot on his foot...as well.

Crutches / boots are often used with any kind of injury that impairs a person's ability to walk. That doesn't mean it's something serious.

What do you guys think of this?

Hawks trade: 2nd oa + 3rd round pick (2024)

Montreal trades: 5th oa + Winnipeg 1st round pick + Pittsburg 2025 2nd round pick

Hawks draft one of Lindstrom, Levshunov, or Buium

Montreal drafts Demidov

I really wouldn't mind the value, but I'd be happy to stay where were at to take Demidov

Demidov said hes looking to possibly play center. Hes a no brainer if they think hes a full time center.
