I'd be fine with this! Loved Tocchet as a player (him and Neely had a couple of epic scraps).Former Bruin Rick Tocchet
Will he/ Vancouver was atotal head case all year, even Tochett has said its been a looong season. Always liked him but dam Vancouver been a mess.at least he`d bring some accountability to both kids and vets equally
Thank you for the clarification.Earlier in the thread, I posted some details on Cassidy's tenure with the Bruins. A couple people challenged me on the story, and I stated that I won't reveal the source on a public forum, but I will submit it to the mods for vetting. A mod asked for the source, I gave it to them in a PM, and the post was allowed to remain.
Thank you for the clarification.
Can someone direct me to the page number of that post? I would like to read it if you don't mind,

Hmm.Cassidy wasn't a meanie. If he were just a meanie no one would have cared. In reality, he was an unprofessional dick who blamed the players for his name not being on the Cup and took it out on them personally on a daily basis. He was also a coward who waited for Chara to leave before he started his vendetta because he was scared shitless by Big Z. There's a difference.
Hmm.
Your source is unimpeachable?
The contention is that Butchie Boy blamed the players for losing the 2019 Stanley Cup finals?
He does not strike me as the type who would shift blame or fail to take accountability for his mistakes. Perhaps I'm wrong.
Recall Patrice Bergeron's comment upon learning Cassidy had been scooped up by Vegas:
"They are going to win the Cup."
Also, since we are casting asparagus, recall too that Sweeney assured Bruce he would be back the next year, business as usual.
After season ending player interviews, my surmise, given veiled references by Steve Conroy (or perhaps Mark Divver, I forget) that having got wind of negative reviews, Neely insisted Cassidy be fired.
Butch was surprised and, naturally, upset.
Which led to Sunny Jim, which led to...
*Was all of this more or less the case?*
*I'm all ears.*
Cassidy had just as much to do with the Game 7 loss thanks to his personnel choices and inability to coach himself out of the corner Berube stuck him in.I've said all I'm going to say.

Underrated key to that series. From game 2 onward Berube was working the refs and the Blues got favorable officiating the rest of the way while Bruce said nothing, even after we got absolutely screwed out of game 5 on the Acciari hook that led to the winning goal.He was certainly outcoached. Badly. Berube also beat him at the PR game, getting the refs to react to his whining press conferences.
As with Sullivan, they could certainly do worse. If I was Sweeney the ink would already be dried on Torts contract. He is exactly the kind of guy we need to light a fire under our floaters and slackers. (The ones that are still here, of course.) I think (my opinion) that some players are a little too comfortable and that it’s possibly been a bit of a country club atmosphere for the last three years. Bring in Torts, Donny!
I am not against TortsAs with Sullivan, they could certainly do worse.
Tortorella will not stand for the country club atmosphere that has apparently found its level in the room.
If they did this, which they won't, two years would be about right.
Then again, Tortorella shot himself out of Philadelphia opining that he had no time for a rebuilding process.
My top two coaching alternatives are the AHL's Todd Nelson and the intriguing Misha Donskov (whom, as noted, Don Sweeney knows from the 4 Nations tournament).
BTW, though of Russian descent, Donskov was born in Montreal, of all places.
I am not against Torts, but my preference would be Tocchet, but what do I know.As with Sullivan, they could certainly do worse.

The scuttlebutt I'm seeing on the interwebz has Tocchet to the Flyers.I am not against Torts

LOFLI'm actually surprised that the calls to replace Don Sweeney aren't louder here
In the past I would probably not in for Torts, but is just such a disaster, I almost just say go with it, what is the worse that could happen. Good point on the calls for Sweeneys head, but I think everyone at this point is thinking about where they finish, and what the pick will be.The scuttlebutt I'm seeing on the interwebz has Tocchet to the Flyers.
In my opinion, not that you asked for it, would be to stay away from Tortorella. That's a band-aid and not a solution. All hiring him would do would be to kick the can down the road and land us all back here again in a year or two.
I'm actually surprised that the calls to replace Don Sweeney aren't louder here. I seriously doubt that a new GM would hire John Tortorella or Mike Sullivan. But Bruins front office/ownership gonna do Bruins things. I desperately want to believe that a year from now the Bruins are trending on an upward trajectory and we're all optimistic for the future. I've been a Bruins fan for almost 40 years, and I always hold out hope that this franchise will pleasantly surprise me.
More than me.I am not against Torts

Money. Prestige.Guys like Carle and Carvel would be interesting (more so Carvel for me because he has some NHL coaching experience). However, why would they leave their current jobs? Carle seems very happy in Denver.
You'd expect the opposite but it played in the Blues favor. He was certainly outcoached. Badly. Berube also beat him at the PR game, getting the refs to react to his whining press conferences.
