Speculation: Who should the Bruins hire as their next Head Coach?

Who should the Bruins hire as their next Head Coach?

What is the Bruins' organizational philosophy under Cam Neely and Don Sweeney?

What kind of hockey team do they want to be?
What's the vision?
What kind of players do you want to draft and develop?
What kind of system do you want to install and implement?

Time to take a long, hard look in the mirror before choosing the next steps in the path.

I want 2011 back.

Pro and cons of Marc Savard?, the league is about offense. No experience as a head coach in the NHL, but word is as an Asst Coach in TOR he is very creative.
Not a vote of confidence, just what do you all think.

Where has Marc had success as a coach?
Not my question. He coached juniors and as an Asst in Tor this year. It was a what do you think, so obviously you don't think much about it.
I'll wait for someone with a more substancive opinion. No offense, you didn't bring anything than another question.

FYI- Marc Savard compiled a record of 88 wins and 35 losses in his coaching career with the Windsor Spitfires. He began coaching during the 2021 season and last coached during the 2022 campaign.

Fair enough.

2019-2020 STL - Asst. Coach in charge of Powerplay
24.3% for 3rd best in league that season

2021-22 and 2022-23 in Windsor as their head coach, Savard guided the Spitfires to a record of 88-35-8-5 and an appearance in the OHL Finals in 2022

2023-24 CGY - Asst. Coach in charge of Powerplay
17.9% for 26th in league that season

2024-2025 TOR - Asst. Coach in charge of Powerplay
26% for 5th best in the league currently

Out of his 3 times as an assistant coach specifically in charge of the powerplay he had one great season in St. Louis and another this year in Toronto. 1 bad season with the PP in Calgary.

He had two successful seasons as head coach in Windsor with the Spitfires.

What I find notable is that no team in the NHL had kept him on staff for more than one season before cutting ties. His specific responsibilities seem to do well from his results with the Blues and Leafs, but is that him or the roster(genuine question)? Was Calgary also an outlier or was it their roster?

I'll ask another rhetorical question: If Marc was not a loved former Bruin, would you even have brought him up as an option for a HC job with Boston?

I don't see enough in his resume here to point to any head coach job in the league, yet. The fact NHL teams seem to keep cutting ties with him fairly quickly is a red flag to me.

What kind of coach do we need in Boston? Do we know that now? Will that need change if there is roster changes over the summer?

I know, even more questions. Sorry, but hopefully that is more information to lay out my perspective.

You think the criticisms of Tortorella are unfair? That people can’t have an opinion of another coach because our coach sucks?

Sacco doesn't "suck."

He's a good, not great, coach.

Who, to quote Mark Divver, has been "handed ten pounds of shit in a five pound bag."

He's done the best he can with an AHL roster.

Do I want Todd Nelson, Joel Quenneville (not happening) or even Misha Donskov (of whom I knew nothing before a board member posted their interest)?

Yes I do.

I wish Sacco well.

For his sake, after stagnating within the Bruins organization for over a decade, a change of scenery is in order.

No way it's Leach, Sweeney's not going to stake his future on a guy who couldn't even sort out the defense this year, imagine an entire team. People who think Sweeney brought him over from Seattle to groom him as the next HC forget, he wasn't hired from Seattle, Leach was in fact fired from Seattle and I'm sure was just thrilled that any team would give him a NHL coaching gig, I don't think he was hired with the intention of being the next HC of the B's by Sweeney.

This organization told him they weren't interested in him TWICE when he wanted to be our powerplay coach.

Meanwhile they think Chris Kelly is the appropriate hire for some reason.

The disrespect that they showed to Savvy still pisses me off. I'm sure Marc has no interest anyways.

Kelly won the Cup here so he is well respected by the Bruins brass.Could have used Marc here though with that powerplay.
