Speculation: Who should the Bruins hire as their next Head Coach?

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

I wish people could just say Torts isn’t a great fit for this team rather than rip rhe guy. He won a Cup and teams keep hiring him. So either everyone in the NHL is a moron or maybe this guy has something to offer.

I’m not supporting him for next head coach, but for crying out loud our current coach is Joe fuc$ing Sacco. Who are we to rip on other coaches?
You think the criticisms of Tortorella are unfair? That people can’t have an opinion of another coach because our coach sucks?

I am under no illusions Bruins hire this guy,but a coach I like in Quebec League is Gardiner MacDougall of the Moncton Wildcats .His 1st season after leaving University of New Brunswick Red Devils or Reds now I believe ,and has them ranked 2nd in Canada last I looked.Serious Memorial.Cup threat. His resume is nothing short of outstanding if you care to Google him.

I went to a coaching symposium in Ann Arbor last summer where he spoke and Gardiner MacDougall was one of the speakers. He was great, high energy, really charismatic and funny, you can see why he does so well with college and junior teams. I don't know how he'd translate to the NHL but he's a legend in coaching circles.

Torts grew up as a fan of the Bruins, and he would not be afraid to go on Felger & Mazz.

One thing I am certain of - The Jacobs Family will accept this year as a failure but will demand a team to be in contention for a playoff spot in 2026. NOTICE that I said the Jacobs Family, as Charlie has to answer to his 2 older brothers who run Delaware North.

Probably so but that will be a tall order for Sweeney to re-tool this trainwreck in one summer. Do not think even a good GM could do it-never mind Neely and Sweeney. ....

Charlie approved all the moves for 2022/2023, as he desperately wanted his father to win another Cup.
Cam knew what the mandate was and told Don to comply.

2019 haunts them, and then came COVID.

The Atlantic Division is tough, and having 2 teams in Florida that have no state income tax makes it harder to compete - just ask Detroit, Montreal, Ottawa and Buffalo. Toronto also deals with the tax issues but can sell being on the team that has a parade on Yonge Street.

Can you imagine what players on the next Toronto team to win the Cup could earn outside of hockey????

Boston is a tough sell to free agents. The practice rink in Brighton is top-notch, BUT is a pain to drive to.

Tim Horton, I regret not having seen him. Though I hear he wasn't flashy. ...

Makes you wonder if Sweeney could have taken any other road.

Cassidy wasn't a meanie. If he were just a meanie no one would have cared. In reality, he was an unprofessional dick who blamed the players for his name not being on the Cup and took it out on them personally on a daily basis. He was also a coward who waited for Chara to leave before he started his vendetta because he was scared shitless by Big Z. There's a difference.
Where do you get this from?

Unless they can find a top line centre really quick they might want to lower the bar for a while. If they draft one it will take some time no doubt to mature.

He won a cup 21yrs ago. In his last 10 seasons as a head coach, his team has made the playoffs 4 times. Of those 4 appearance they only made it past the 1st round once.

To me Torts is the guy that gets hired because management feels like the room isn't holding each other accountable. Torts comes in and treats everyone the same. He doesn't care if you're a superstar or a career AHLer, you're held the same standard.

I agree with you that he's not the right fit for this team.

Joe Sacco is our coach by default because you're not hiring someone mid season after you fired your head coach. He was a piece of duck tape that Sweeney & Neely threw a bone to because of how long he's been with the organization.
