The Chicago organization screwed up but honestly Quenneville's personal culpability is overblown compared to people who do have current jobs like Bowman and Chevy.

He was the lowest ranking person in the room when there was a meeting about allegations involving a black ace who hadn't even played with the NHL team before the start of the finals. The outcome was them deciding to let things go until after the finals, and at that point the HR department decided to let the guy resign instead of doing an investigation.

I don't see what Coach Q reasonably could've done at that point. Stop everything relating to planning for the finals and put your foot down against the GM and Team President and demand a full investigation of some video coach? McDonough, Bowman, Chevy, Wirtz, those guys had opportunities to do something and didn't. HR did the opposite of what is good practice. But all those people are skating along but Quenneville, who really had no reasonable course of action anyway is still paying the price for it? It's pretty unfair IMO.
Bowman shouldn't have a job either.

We don't need to be the team to hire Quenneville. There's more important things than winning.
He should of stood up for his player.

What about sparking a new generation and go with Misha Donskov?

Sweeney brought him aboard the team Canada coaching staff. Guys got a history of success, has done just about everything other than be a head coach and has a great reputation as a problem solver.

Now there is a name i can get behind as well.

Spent 3 seasons under Dale Hunter mastering the coaching trade.

they are joined at the hip

never go by your gut - all you will get is a higher BMI

Subconscious mind has the answers ~ your gut or atleast mine tells me to grab the box of cheez its when grocery shopping

Many seem to have a very short memory

Swayman was spectacular in the playoffs and was highly thought of around here

I watched the Tampa game after the trades Bruins won 4-0 and the Florida win live here

Swayman was great

That his teammates don’t try for him must be on certain days because they did then

I would trade anyone on this team for the right package but unless I got it I’m expecting him to bounce back in a big way next season

He needs to not talk like last summer and stop listening to whoever is in his ear because he’s a different guy last year
You pick two games and you are right he was good, but what about the other games not so good, and remember that was one of the concerns, was good he handle the load, and he has failed, unproven goaltender and Sweeney threw all that money at him. Sweeney and Neely uncoupled at that 64 million reasons why press conference.

Bullshit, he had many avenues to take, the way you describe it then he was a f***n coward, and worried about his job, tell that to that kid.

I said Sullivan but Pens won’t fire him……yet. Maybe after next year.

Can we get someone that’s just at least won a Calder Cup or Memorial Cup as a head coach? It’s virtually impossible to win a Stanley Cup with your second team (check it out only 3 guys have done it……), so that might be a factor too……….but…….we need a whole new set of assistants too. Goalie Bob can stay but move on from the rest. If we did it in moving out 5 players we can do it with the coaching staff too.

I do think all this being said they give Sacco the reigns which I wouldn’t do.
That always irritates me, pining for a past cup winning coach, as it is so unlikely to bring true success. Even worse in football, where no coach has ever done it, yet year after year, fan bases are clamoring for these guys...

I want to switch me vote to Chara, only to see future head to head matchups with St. Louis. Always loved that matchup, and the size difference and how they both competed and respected each other.

Coaches will be fired in the offseason. Better to do this poll when the org sees who is available. They need to go outside the organization and change the mindset.

My guess is no one is surviving this. FO and coaching staff included.

This 100 times

I voted Sullivan but honestly don’t know who it should be. It honestly could be none (very few) of us have even heard of

I would love to hear someone in the know’s view on what exactly went wrong with Monty. Going all the way back to his incredible season to the day he got fired.

Just what went wrong and why did he end up not being the guy anymore
Sunny Jim cannot coach defense.

I'm too lazy at present to enumerate his many inexplicable, inexcusable "coaching decisions."

Which is putting it charitably.

(A glutton for punishment? Peruse my many annoying rants pillorying Montgomery's fantastic ineptitude as head coach of the Boston Bruins, beginning with his consent to Bergeron's request to play a meaningless late season game in MTL, as #37's father was in attendance.

(Follow the bread crumbs from that one.)

Add to this his displeasure with Sweeney's "vision" for the Btuins prior to the 2024-2025 season -- big, heavy, not afraid of those laughing Panthers, but slow and antithetical to Montgomery's turbo charged offensive scheme; crickets per contract extension (the sword of Damocles); and an apparent wink & nod (tampering, anyone?) to resume residence in St. Louis, this time as head coach.

If you viewed his press availability when named for the position by Blues GM Doug Armstrong, Montgomery's elation was obvious.

Good on him and all success.

I'm relieved he is no longer associated with the Boston Bruins.

I expect some combination of Sullivan, Quinn and Leach. A dark horse in Jay Pandolfo as HC. I also expect Sacco to be offered a job within the organization even if he's let go as head coach.
I suppose this wouldn't be bad. They could certainly do worse.

And assuming he wants it, Sacco deserves a place in the Bruins organization. He's been a good soldier for many years, and has done the best he can with a gutted roster.

Whatever he does, I wish him well.

Voted other.

No more spinning the wheel of retreads. I don't want Gallant so he can piss the locker room off within 2 years and be out on his ass. I don't want Sullivan when the Penguins run of relevance ended with him getting outfoxed in pretty much every playoff series they played post 2017. Clode's system was outdated already 10 years ago, lord help us if we had to watch it now. Lol at the thought of David Quinn.

Bergeron/Chara being on there feels like a reach. I don't think either guy has any interest.

The ONLY name i would maybe consider from that pile is Boudreau. Legitimate track record with player development, tends to build regular season success. His reputation was wrongly tarnished by how dirty the Canucks did him.

I would much prefer either a fresh face like a Donskov or if you absolutely need to hire a known quantity, go with a guy like Jay Woodcroft, who has a track record but still a lot of surface to scratch given he seemed to be made a fall guy for the Oilers (spoilers; firing him worked for one season, now Edmonton is back to being the same 3 man team with no depth, defense or goaltending)

Voting Other, totally outside the box idea: Mark Stuart, obvious Boston ties (which some see as a disadvantage)very intelligent guy. Been Assistant in Edmonton now for several years, if not for HC, might be good choice to take over our defense.

Don’t know who’s the answer but going on your 4th coach in 4 years surely isn’t.

This team is so bad right now, I just don’t see a free agent signing here or there fixing this. Maybe it’s more than just the coaches fault.

It's Sway's fault. If he stops a few 90+mph slapshots from the dot, we'd have more shots the other way.

Dale Hunter. Hmm. Heck with goalie fights, in honor of Livingston Bramble and Big George Foreman, a few Berube-Hunter coaches tilts is exactly what the NHL needs!

Quite a few years back (late 90's), I use to see Dale at a few Baltimore Bandits games. I dear friend was working for them and I had to keep tabs on Eric Manlow's progress ;-)

He wasn't that approachable, but I remember him commenting on a kid who came up late in the year named Matt Cullen . . .who went on to have a pretty good career.

I think that's how I recall it. Pretty sure his brother was coaching in the AHL then too?

Sullivan would be my pick, but I really don't know.

On that point, I'm not a hockey management guru. But I do know a thing or two about business.

Bringing back Joe Sacco is bad business. I will be floored if he is back next season. Like on the floor, comatose floored. Not only would it be a ridiculously bad PR move, it's also a bad hockey move.

I'd be interested in seeing people's view on the "top three things" that Joe Sacco did really well this season. I'm working on my list, but fair warning it's going to take a while. I'm not making much progress.

Carvel here, too. I grew up in Canton, NY where he did. That is not why I voted for him but it's meaningful to me. He has been successful at the college level and has experience as an NHL assistant. He's an outsider with a fresh perspective and not one of the many NHL retread journeyman coaches that keep getting rehired but seldom create a difference where they go.
Hey there. Went to Potsdam, but lived over by the Mine Shaft in Canton. Did a semester at Canton when Potsdam asked me to take some time away. 1983-1985 time frame.

Saw a lot of St Lawrence and Clarkson games back then. Did drop in hockey and intramurial league too. yikes we were bad. Still head back up there?

I graduated from Canton in 1983. Glad to hear from someone else from the north country. The SLU-Clarkson games were great to watch. Appleton Arena was pretty much my shrine when I was a kid. I practically lived there during the season and then went to hockey school in the summer. Good times.
