Speculation: Who should the Bruins hire as their next Head Coach?

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

screw Torts, how this guy still has a NHL life is beyond me

Last 3 years soon to be 4th , DNQ

Previous 4 years, ousted in first round 3 times, 1 in 2nd round by our boys

that was preceded by another two years of DNQ

Screw him, fans like him cuz he tells it like it is yet his teams in the last10+ years have done zippo

Brutal numbers.
Brutal indeed and Going back 16 periods not counting overtime the Bruins haven’t reached double digits in shots in any period

I guess it all comes hand in hand with the tank, but this team should have a McKenna plan going into next year as well, because it’s not looking like their a year away from fixing this ship.

Sullivan for me. He's not the issue in Pittsburgh, the issue is surrounding their over the hill stars with any junk they can find to try to keep it going

Did you see where he scratched his leading goal scorer and point getter in Kyle Connor so he could dress a broken down Chris Kreider in a championship game they lost by one goal?

Sullivan's best days are over. Got lucky to coach a prime Crosby/Malking/Letang.

Don’t know who’s the answer but going on your 4th coach in 4 years surely isn’t.

This team is so bad right now, I just don’t see a free agent signing here or there fixing this. Maybe it’s more than just the coaches fault.

I agree. I'm sure it is a combination of things. And you are right that going on a coach per year schedule is a bad play.

That said, although this year's team was never structured to be a winner it probably wasn't as poor as the results have shown.

There were season long consistent flaws that plagued this team throughout with virtually little to no improvement over the year. IMO the current coaching staff is not the answer for building anew.

Decide what sort of team and style of play you want to adopt, and then pick the guy who best suits that style and move forward. And stay the course. As Wally and others have stated, this is not a quick fix. Be strategic and look for sustainable results, not quick fixes.

I hate hate hate the idea of Z or Bergeron being GM, Pres of Operations, or anything of the like.

Not because they couldn't do it (although I don't know if they could). But because fans almost always eat their young over time..

Many fans "hate" Cam Neely. Think about that for a second. Really think about it.

- Prototypical power forward in the NHL.
- Goal scoring machine.
- HHOF player with a well deserved Jersey in the Garden rafters
- 50 in 50 goal scorer while endlessly rehabbing a leg that would force him to retire
- Massive hitter who intimidated everyone
- An often scary, rage filled fighter
- A player who virtually always delivered something good - almost never had off nights.
- HUGE community leader and a man that for decades has given back to those in real hardship
- Never seen a "off ice" incident or story that showed poor (if human) judgement or mis-steps
- A President who fires water bottles at walls (yes, we all laugh, but don'twe all love the passion?)

And yet because we don't like all of his moves or influence as an executive (and none of us really know who does what when in Bruins management) many fans state that they "hate" him.

Ugh. Don't do that to Z or Bergie. Giving beloved players that job is tempting fate and underestimates what is needed to be a good GM or team President. Being a local fan favorite and HHOF player doesn't hurt but I suspect those assets are more of a "nice to have" than a core competency requirement.
Excellent post.

Prime Crosby ? Have we witnessed it yet ? Lol

At 37 he’s leading the NHL in 5v5 points. The guy is incredible!!

But yea I agree, big pass for me on Sully, as well.

I was in favor of the Bruins giving Sacco a chance to re-interview for the head coaching position, but after that non-challenge in San Jose, he should be gone.
I get what you were saying and agree.

Ironically though, that decision was one of his better strategic moves all season. Not very admirable, but a higher pick is a higher pick.

Like my golf game. Most times it's not very difficult to pick out my best shot of the day. Out of 100 or so golf swings, every once in a while I mistakenly hit a beauty that stands out.

Todd Nelson in his 10 full seasons a head coach in the AHL has won 3 championships, has a points % of .635, and has never missed the playoffs. Helped develop McMichael and Protas during their time in Hershey and now key contributors to the Caps.
any idea why he`s not been given a shot in the NHL?

That did not help his case.

Does Sullivan, want to get fired twice in his hometown? Because we know it will happen.
