Ummm, I thought everyone on this board was in unanimous agreement that it has to be Byram, such a cool dude with an awesome flow yoAs it seems that Landy might not make to ice ever again or is just not in playing condition for a long time I wanna speculate a bit who should wear the C in Avs.
Mack: In my opinion his effort is legendary, but whenever stuff is not going his way his just not a guy who can contrate on everyone else. His just too selfish.
Makar: Very good on ice talent wise, but would I consider him a leader of the locker room, maybe not. He doesnt have Macks attitude problem, but is just too soft. He is giving interviews so thats a non issue for him.
Rantanen: Maybe not the most popular opinion at the moment because of the contract speculations, but I think he has all the attributes of being a Captain. He has the on-ice contribution scoring wise and isnt affraid to lay a hit. His gives zero f***s to telling his mind to own players without coming out being mean. He is communicating well to press and isnt afraid to give interviews. Also he is already wearing A. From all the players in the team in my opinion he has the least negatives.
Anyone else: If your not contributing scoring wise you would need to do something else big time and there just is anyone else being a superstar in any other aspect in my mind.
Landy: If he comes back then yeah its him, but we need on ice C now.
Kiviranta got some good flow.Ummm, I thought everyone on this board was in unanimous agreement that it has to be Byram, such a cool dude with an awesome flow yo
But the hat?!?!?!?!?!Landy is no captain at this point and hasn't been for years. A captain plays for the team and is available.
I wonder who is the guy in the locker room, probably Nate.
Dave Andreychuk was bouncing between the 3rd and 4th lines as C of that first Tampa Bay Cup team.I've never understood the notion of captain = best player. Landy is an amazing captain because he has first line talent, but all the other intangibles as well.
As strange as this sounds, I would pick LOC if he receives 3rd line minimum usage. He's the best PKer on the team. He loves to throw fists if an opponent takes a run at our team. He is recognized by all for hard work, determination and commitment. He leads the team in hits/60. He has the street cred to call out a teammate for slacking off.
None of this is meant to detract from the value of Mac or Makar. But why does a C or A on a jersey demand an elite player?
We shouldn't discount retired players either. Imagine how loose the guys will be if JML is captain and sets up the wine cave in the locker room. It's not fair to discount players on IR. Which is why Poolman is the clear choice.
He was the perfect choice, and there's stories as to why he was chosen.Dave Andreychuk was bouncing between the 3rd and 4th lines as C of that first Tampa Bay Cup team.
Okay, you didn't actually have to convince me. I acknowledge Dave was an outlier and as you said there were... circumstances. He was the perfect choice, and there's stories as to why he was chosen.
Usually getting a scrub for your captain is a bad idea (Kelly Buchberger in Edmonton, Dave Lowry in Calgary, Derek MacKenzie in Florida, and so on) but really it's the guy everyone listens to.
Doesn't have to be the best player, but it also shouldn't be a guy playing 5-8 minutes a night (Old Fart Mess in his final stint in NY, in which he never went to practice).
How do you know so much about the Rangers and their history? You kind of sometimes sound like a former Rangers fan.He was the perfect choice, and there's stories as to why he was chosen.

They were my second-favorite team for a long time. My favorite all-time line remains Straka-Nylander-Jagr. Such a shame they completely threw that promising year in the trash and went right back to their same bullshit. I finally gave up on them with this latest “rebuild” that they’ve almost completely screwed up now.How do you know so much about the Rangers and their history? This sounds like a fun summer thing for us all to do. Discuss our favorite lines, then maybe have a series of polls to see whose is considered the best by our group of fans. They were my second-favorite team for a long time.
