I think it could truly be team dependant this year. Say Buffalo gets the first pick, I think they’d take Hagens as they already have a good left side. Montreal I think could use Schaefer more. Chicago needs it all but Hagens with Bedard would be so fun to watch. Nashville needs a Josi replacement, but need a 1C too.
It'd be really something for Chicago to take Hagens. The Hawks top forward prospects and u23 players are Bedard (5'9), Frank Nazar (5'9), Roman Kantserov (5'9), Nick Lardis (5'11, but small 5'11), Oliver Moore (5'11), and Sacha Boisvert (6'2). Adding another undersized forward to this group would be almost disastrous from a roster construction standpoint.

They're testing the limits of the "BPA" concept 😅

Molendyk and Gibson are currently projected to be the top pairing at the WJC for Canada and Trotz is dying to finally get his no.1 center. Wouldn't hate getting Schaefer if we pick 2 or lower, but I think if we're 1st we'll draft Hagens.

1st overall take the best player and figure it out.

I just want Chicago to get a top 4 pick. My rankings for Chicago.

Hagens
Misa
Schaefer
Martone

Bumping this thread to get the debate out of Schaefer's thread.

I personally have Schaefer/Hagens as 1/2 with Misa as 3 and Martone as 4. While I have a small gap between the top 2 and Misa, I could see the argument as to picking Misa 1. I don't see the same argument for Martone at 1.
