Martone is a winger that has size and skill but lacks the dynamic offensive abilities for a true number one.

Misa, great skater and can score but somewhat lacking in the hockey sense department and it's unlikely he will be a true center in the NHL. So, think of a potential high scoring winger that will need support. As a result, not a true 1OA pick.

Hagens, exceptional skating ability coupled with a high-level CPU (mucho hockey sense) that is able to drive a line. He can score as well as set up. Projects as a center in the next level. A legitimate 1OA pick.

Schaefer, outer worldly skating ability coupled with tremendous skill. Defensively responsible enough to be on a PK at the NHL level while being the man on the PP. Projected as a true number one Dman and a worthy 1OA pick

So, it's really between Hagens and Schaefer and most of us will have a pretty good indication by the February as to who will and deserves to go 1st overall.

I'll give you my take on what I think Bob Mckenzie's list looks like at the end of the year:

Schaefer #1

Hagens #2

Martone #3

Frondell #4

Misa #5

1. Scheafer
2, Hagens
3, Misa
4, Martine

For me, clearly a top 4 this year. #5 could go anywere after this. Mcqueen, Hensler, Frondell seems to be the frint runner for the 5OA

I'll guess Misa, especially if it's Chicago picking 1st.

This class feels kinda like '02 where the players were close enough that organizational need wins out, or at least may be a tie-breaker.

Hagens.

Broke the U17 Worlds points record.

Broke the U18 Worlds points record.

Oh yeah, produces in full seasons too. Best PPG in USHL last year (and did it as a player who hadn’t even reached his draft year).

Most valuable position. Most proven player in the draft.

Definitely disagree about Misa’s hockey sense. I’m curious what led you to that conclusion.

Let’s see what happens the rest of the year. Lots can change slumps, injuries and all out talent, looking forward to see, it will matter how they play in the NHL in the next 3 or4 seasons

Schaefer will be a 1D, zero doubt, probably him. I’d say teams will lean Hagens because he’s a center but should be Schaefer.

Frondel over Misa is insane, I think Misa has an outside shot to be in the top 2 he’s that good.

Why so high on Frondell?
I'm not particularly THAT high on Frondell.

This is what I think GMs think of him. Guys that are well connected like Mckegg, HockeyProspect, and Pronman have all been very high on him. Also Mckenzie had him top 5 in his preseason rankings. Frondell is a 6'2" great skating 200 foot center. Teams would love to have him. Similar reasons why guys like Barrett Hayton and Kotkaniemi have gone earlier than expected

Looks like some of Holtz in him why I asked. Hope Habs don't pick him

This makes sense, and I also believe he will get drafted higher than we think.

However.. what seems to improve his draft stock is the fact he is a center. But is he a center? I mean... He hasn't play center at all this season in the J20 and Alls. Anyone knows why?

EDIT: I just find it odd that many people doubt Misa is a center when he's been playing center the whole season and plays like a center, but on the other hand we all assume Frondell is a center while he hasn't played center this season. 🤷‍♂️

New to Swedish prospects, eh?

He's playing for a men's team in Sweden while the J20 play was to shake off rust. So of course he won't play at C. Swedish coaches gonna Swedish coach.
