I'm starting to think Vegas is in charge of stats.
Personally I don't care about stats ... there's far too many these days and the only one that really matters to me is goals and penalties.
Anyways watching yesterday's game I saw Daccord make two saves in the first 5 mins the shot clock even posted them and than at 10 minute mark Jets had O SOGs.
I'm not the only one that has noticed how the SOGs don't match the eye test because play play announcers are making jokes about it and even the players are mentioning it.
Since you basically can bet on anything these days including SOGs ... are they fixing the stats?
I'm in a fantasy hockey league where your get points for hits and I got Schenn.:D Yesterday he had 4 in the first period and when the game finished he still had 4.
Does anyone remember the hit in the 3rd period when Schenn flatten a Kraken player and laid him out on the ice?
That was the best hit of the game but it did not count on the stat sheet?
The Kraken with flying that first period and were the better team but somehow the Jets had more high danger chances in the 1st.
I guess its time for me to get my eyes check?

NHL officially records. During the run of play the shot clock may not be accurate as the the broadcaster is updating them on the fly but after a break in play... say a period break they will be in sync with what the NHL has. The recording of these is done at the home rink, in the past there were known to biases where the home team's shots and hits would be inflated (and the opposite in MSG during the Lundqvist era as presumably the scorers were trying to boost his sv%). Most advanced stats websites adjust the shot stats taking into account who the home team is.
