who is your teams worst goalie in the last decades

No matter the goalie they have, they won’t win unless their best players play their next hockey when it matters.

Sure, better goaltending would help. But there is no bigger factor in any possible future playoff success than for their star players to be the best players in games in the post season.

I agree with you, but it is more complex than that. At least under Keefe, every playoff series developed into playing the trap midway through and our shitty goalies would always let in at least 1 stinker. Then the other team would play the trap assuming the stinker wasn't the series winner like last year.

Stinkers like these lost us the series.. Can find one from an elimination game basically every series. This year feels different because we are playing a strong defensive system from game 1 not trying to figure out how to play one mid playoff AND our goalies are strong.

Maybe the high paid forwards should bail out the goalie once in a while? Oh no, one stinker, that's it game over.

So you ignore the very first few words where I tell him I agree with him, and my explanation of what the team has been asked to do and the flaws in that asking, and then post this? At least read my post

In recent memory, Jonas Johansson was the worst goalie, thankfully he only saw a couple of games but his .766 save percentage is cemented in history.

Over the last couple decades? Been a few guys that played 10-20 games for the Panthers and were total dogshit (Kevin Weekes .870 save %, Steve Shields .879 save %) but I think when you factor in expectations and performance, Alex Auld has to be the worst goaltender we've ever had. He was disastrous in his 27 starts and lost the starting job to a drunk Ed Belfour a quarter into the season.

In the last 10 years, Chad freaking Johnson. So bad during our run to last place (by New Years) he got tossed on waivers for our 4th string goalie, HFBoard's darling, Jordan Binnington en-route to the Cup win.

I swear Doug only signed Johnson because we always seemed to lose to him.

As most of my fellow Devil fans have mentioned they've had some truly astoundingly bad goaltenders but Jon Gillies was so bad, he made me not bother watching games if I knew he was starting and I don't skip games.

As an Oilers fan it angers me that the Canucks have managed to ship-out / let walk more quality starters over the last decade-plus than the Oilers have had at all.

Crawford, Luongo, Miller, Markstrom (and now Demko), is pretty wild. Meanwhile, "we‘ve“ had one good year from Talbot and a good showing last season from Skinner in that timeframe. And a whole bunch of garbage.

No, no, no. Remember when Mathieu Garon had an amazing win streak in the shootout?

I think he started his career with the Rangers and I remember him looking really good in his first game with us. Not sure if he played any more games after that.

While he may not have been as bad as Auld, or DEFINITELY not as bad as Johansson, James F**king Reimer....along with a smattering of a younger Mike Matheson...owes me a few remote controls that somehow got smashed against walls and floors.

Are we talking starting goalies or goalies in general? For the former it's a clash of the titans between Theodore and Samsonov. For the latter, it's Justin Peters.

I'd go with Samsonov for the pure reason how much I was hated for telling people here since the day of his draft the dude got no fundamentals, just crazy athletic for his size and they defended him until his ass was driven to the airport with a note to never be seen anywhere around DC again.

That was the worst 1st round pick of the Capitals since Anton Gustafsson when you consider the people that were taken close to that pick. Konecny, Connor, Aho and many others.

samsonov got a pass from me because the caps were in a rebuild/repatch mode at that time and after holtby signed out we had nobody, i did not expect much from him and neuvirth. thedore on the other hand came in with a little bit of hype from colorado and montreal... and the caps were in playoff mode with prime ovy..., and there he was... letting in stinkers on the first shot each game, what a let down

Pretty sure Cloutier never cracked top 20 SV% among starters during the entire time he was a starter, which was shockingly long given we had the below roster.

.. I think you forgot the actual worst (Keith Kinkaid). Budaj and Auld absolutely don't belong in this thread, too.

Kinkaid only played 6 games which disqualifies him as well. Nowhere near a full season.

With the amount of trash in net these days the lists would be hard to make

Leafs
Scrivens
Sparks
McElhinny
Murray
Toskala
Bernier
Campbell

Wow what a list of absolute garbage.
