Who is your favorite player in the NHL?

Big fan of McDavid. He seems like a introvert, self-focused, no BS and hard working individual, and a highly talented person who exploited his god given gift. Everytime Oilers play I look at the scoreboard hoping the guy has a multi-point game. Hope he racks as many Art Ross he can until he retires and obviously 1 or 2 cup for his legacy.

My favourite is Auston Matthews.

I just don’t think the game has seen such a competitive player, who is willing to do anything to win. The bigger the occasion, the bigger the effort. He’s just a guy who leaves everything he has on the ice after big games.

After nine out of ten playoff games, you can point to him and say that he was clearly the best and most impactful player in the game. I just admire the “never say die” compete level he demonstrates when the occasion calls for it.

Brady Skjei and Colton Parayko (Brady Skjei west side version) are my two favourite players outside of the Flames. Dropping the act for just one second (and this will be the last time I do it until he retires… I’m serious, bookmark this shit if you care because this is the last time I’m doing it), Brady Skjei is a solid dman who got wayyyyyyyy too much crap in New York for a team that was falling apart. Played great in Carolina but is stuck on a crappy team again. Its going to be painful stanning him the next 6 years. Seriously, I have no idea what I’m going to do with material.

TLDR; Brady Skjei is literally Jesus Christ. He’s a warrior, a total beast, and a goddamn legend.

Still Giroux for me. Great player, great person. I'm bigger fans of Frost and Farabee, anxious to see how they do unshackled.

Nikita Kucherov is my favourite right now.

DJ King married the girl I had a crush on in high school.
I remember as a kid being fairly new to hockey and seeing DJ King and I believe Andrew Gordon at a scratches skate at the Caps' practice rink. I didn't know what a scratch was at the time and was just amazed at how good those guys seemed up close. My friend's dad who was a massive fan promptly let me know that they sucked and never played.

Biggest beauty of all time for me would have to be Jarome Iginla. Doubt anybody will ever unseat him considering that was my formative years stuff. Great player, great leader, great person. Everything you could want in a hockey player. Very much a longshot at this point of time but if Conroy and him pull off a Stanley Cup I will 💯% bawl my eyes out like a little girl who's puppy just died when they raise it center ice.

As for right now, and I do hate this bs answer for any what's your favourite question, I don't really have one. Always been a big Ovechkin guy. What a capital s Specimen. Pasta also a very fun dude on and off the ice, bet he's got great stories on even greater stories. Might sound weird as a Flames fan but it could still be Matthew Tkachuk, that kid was born and bred for the role he plays in this league. One of those rare athletes that get and embrace that pro sports is entertainment. He left us for almost 8 figures, jet skis, flip flops, and a SC win over the Oilers :D Hard to hate on that. Bet he'll have a long career in broadcasting after his playing days are over.

Easy to hate on the other hand that I can now only consider Gaudreau as all time rather than current. He should still be dazzling on highlight reels and raising those cute kids of his. One of the most unique players in league history. All that being said, Calgarian Cale Makar on his good days is probably my favourite player to watch right now. Disgusting that anybody can make 30 minutes in the NHL look that easy.

I'm sure people will mock me because these boards seem to be exclusively about 'what have you done for me lately', but I really hoped we would draft Elias Pettersson after watching videos of him playing online, I thought I saw Datsyuk tendencies.

His career thus far has mostly confirmed a large percentage of what I thought I saw. He's struggling now, but I'm not one who abandons a player for struggling or forgets that they are human too and capable of injury and struggling with confidence just like any of us are.

Took a piss next to Tuukka Rask once but if you can believe it he didn’t want to chat, high five, or sign what I offered him

Darren McCarty. I met him at a Greek restaurant in suburban Detroit. He was doing his standup tour. Met him in the parking lot before the show. We chatted a bit and I told him how far I'd traveled for the gig. Good dude. A man of the people. He remembered my name and addressed be my name twice more that night.

I touched Nicklas Lidström once.

Ehlers currently

Excluding Jets and ex-Jets, maybe like Crosby, Erik Karlsson, Matthews
A lot of my older favourite players recently retired - Jumbo Joe, Luongo, Lundqvist, Keith, Toews, Chara
Favourite player that I've met is probably Evander Kane

Past: Selanne and Peter Forsberg
HM: Roy, Brodeur, Hasek and Sakic

Present: Kucherov and Makar
HM: Helleybuyck, Vasilevskiy, Connor and MacKinnon.

Brad Marchand. I know he has a reputation of being a dirty player and it's well-earned but when he's not clipping, slewfooting, or throwing elbows, he's one of the funnest players to watch. I also loved his journey through the NHL. He started in 2010 and got 0 points through his first 20-something games and then found him 2nd line LW flanking Bergeron all the way to a cup win a year later. He continued his ascension with 30 goal seasons and then becoming one of the best players in the league at his peak being effective in all 3 zones while being a total rat in the best way when he doesn't cross the line. He battles like his life depends on it and you'd think he was a 6'4 PWF the way he uses his frame to push others around and dominate board/puck battles. Add in some funny interviews and tweets and he's likely gonna be my favorite player of all time by the time I'm in the grave. The epitome of "it's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog."

If I exclude the Bruins and former Bruins, I find myself liking the heart and soul guys under 6' who empty their bucket every shift. I've taken a liking to guys like Bryan Rust, Jonathan Marchessault, and Viktor Arvidsson. Even with him being on the stupid Habs, I've had a lot of appreciation for Brendan Gallagher as well.

I have marvelled about Kent Nilsson before. How he is just as laid back and cool off the ice as on the ice. We had sons in same age playing against each other and I talked to him at times, he was a scout so one could bump into him in any suburban arena in Stockholm area. Always nice.

As a player he was a beaut to watch, smooth operator with nice touch and shot.

Growing up it was Sergie Federov.

Now? I'd have to go with Kucherov.
Good ol' Sergie
