Who is winning the cup this year? (No BS thread)

Won’t be the Oilers if this inconsistent and incompetent officiating keeps up. Absolutely embarrassing how a lot of these games are game managed.

Teams learned from last years finals, just interfere or any other number of infractions on McDavid and they will call a fraction of them. Brutal to watch game in and game out. Rear example again last night.
Geez Louise, the ref blaming is just pitiful

Whoever comes out of the west to the finals will have had an insane path that’s for sure.

They aren’t built like the 2022 team. Lost all their depth, too top heavy and a lot more. Unless they go wild at the deadline I don’t see it.

Makes me think of the movie Battle Royale.

Last year’s “winner”……or for those who haven’t seen it, a psychologically damaged girl covered in blood, grinning while holding a butcher knife.

I’m almost GLAD that the Knights have cooled down noticeably. I don’t want them getting high off of regular season success in oxygen rich casino basements; I want them biting the bars of the cage they’re in.

Edmonton and Vegas in the West. Florida looks good in the East, but I could see Tampa Bay being a good threat out of the East this season also. If ever Toronto was going to make a run, this might be the year to do it if the Panthers get knocked out.

Washington performed well even without Ovechkin, that they'll most likely go to the finals. Vegas has the breadth and experience at this point, so it's easy to see them in finals as well.

Toronto & Winnipeg nowadays do well in the regular season, but fail in the postseason, and they essentially still have the same teams as before. So I bet they drop in round 1 or 2.

At this point (Jan. 20), Edmonton, Winnipeg, and maybe Dallas and Vegas strike me as legit contenders for the western conference.

I know Vegas has looked good, but I think they lost a key guy or two, and some of their guys are a bit old. Same with Dallas, and I don't think we've seen players like Seguin (past his prime anyway) and Robertson really elevate their game in the playoffs.

I don't think Colorado is quite for real. I believe Winnipeg or Edmonton would easily take them out. The Kings are doing well, but just not enough high-end scoring.

But in the East...? I haven't got a clue.

I'm thinking Edmonton makes that next step. The hockey fan in all of us never wants to see a generational player of McDavid's talent not win a Cup, it just would feel weird and always have that asterisk. Think Dan Marino, or Ty Cobb or Barry Bonds or Ted Williams. Less for baseball though since one player more than any of the sports isn't expected to carry the load. Out East I will say Berube already has the Leafs getting used to playoff level hockey that he expects out of them. I think that will bode well in April.

Hockey is such a coin flip, who really knows, but I do like the sheer “we are not losing this f***ing game” they’ve shown against Buffalo x2. It’s Buffalo, I know, but they came from 4-0 in one game, then 5-2 with like 5 minutes left in the other. Having Mak refuse to lose, then having a soldier like Makar on the back end in lockstep- hate that team, good pick.

Oilers will be fine.

Edmonton easily as a Flames fan, fully expect McDavid to have another monstrous playoff run with at least 50-60pts at the bare minimum. Drai should follow suit with numbers in the 40 range. This is a greater duo than Crosby and Malkin and when healthy, there isn't a single team that can manhandle Edmonton in a 7 game series.

Didn't Florida already do that?
