Katz seems like the biggest d-bag by far.
Melnyk with his whining and forensic investigation seems like an idiot as well.
Eh? He's literally lied to the public at several points during the "negotiation." If he was in the right, there would be no reason for him to attempt delude people with such gems as:Edwards (and all the Flames owners) are great.
They are in the right in the arena situation. Not a chance he is one of the worst owners.
I actually posted similar comments on the sens board today...
What owner trades draft picks for cash? Purposely takes on bad front loaded contracts once the pay is lower than the cap? Never buys out players that are underperforming? Trades youth for age so they don’t have to pay them (zibanejad)
I present to you Eugene Melnyk for discussion, not sure another owner has had this impact on their team. I can ignore the media crap but the stuff above is just killing the sens
Care to quantify that? Other than a sexual allegation by an actress with a less than stellar career and her professional gambler husband who has been banned from every major casino in addition to being an FBI informant into a drug/gambling ring to save his own ass after losing millions gambling in attempts to launder it (sounds like someones funds are running dry after two failed careers and always having to watch their backs) not sure Katz is any different than any other owner..
Don't count my post on page 1 as to any sort of condemnation or this one to any sort of endorsement either. I am just curious as to what Katz does that other owners don't that makes him such a d-bag?
Eh? He's literally lied to the public at several points during the "negotiation." If he was in the right, there would be no reason for him to attempt delude people with such gems as:
- the city is no longer willing to negotiate (when they were)
- the city's offer has us paying for 125% of the arena (which it doesn't)
etc.
But, that said, these are all antics he's pulling as a businessman attempting to do businessman things, which I don't find that despicable. He wants more money for the owners, which is his prerogative. And there is no set in stone rule for what is a fair amount for them to pay for the building that will ultimately benefit both them and the city.
I trust him a hell of a lot more than Spenshi, so I would not agree that he or the Flames lied at any point.
He is in a tough spot because the Mayor doesn't want hockey in Calgary so he is willing to lie and use any method necessary to spin the story in his favor. The morons in Calgary have bought into his lies because so many of the them think it is hip to have a minority as a mayor and that it shows that Calgary aren't rednecks that they will buy any lie he sells them.
He's pretty good for the Rangers because all he does is sign checks.James Dolan but he doesn't involve himself with the operations of the club, thank god
Hiring all the old Oilers despite them repeatedly showing that they were incompetent boobs, multiple stories (not just one actress) about him being a creep- where theres smoke there's fire, being proud of the total gong show that piece of crap organization he runs is, being from Edmonton, constantly trotting out his son at the draft, the DVD the team sent out, tier 1 fans, banning signs from the rink that weren't pro-Oilers, Sportsnet Oilers coverage with 3 of the most unprofessional people in any line of work (Quinn, Principe, Remenda), the stupid "welcome to Edmonton" bit with McDavid.
I would believe what Edwards and the Flames say as being the truth over some BS presented by the city as "fact."
My source for Nenshi not wanting a team is watching how he acts and what he says. He would rather throw money away on stupid art projects and fancy bridges than make a fair deal to keep the hockey team in Calgary.
Murray Edwards is definitely hated throughout the city right now, and for very good reasons. Add to that that he played the role of heavy for the owners in the last lockout and I think he would rank highly league wide.
Also, you have erroneously (and hilariously!) again conflated your own opinion with fact. If you do any research into this at all you will very easily find that the City is being quite truthful and that ownership (through their mouth/ass piece ken king) has been lying and making up positions this entire time.
In my opinion, ownership is very clearly pining/ holding out for the Calgary Next proposal, more than likely because of the surrounding development opportunities and roi that comes with it. It's a pissing match with Katz-y boy.
Oh? Your 'research' has produced different results than literally every other person that has looked into this situation? Nenshi is being obtuse, but the city's position as a whole is very sound. Ownership (Murray being the ring leader) have put untenable positions on the table for every step of the east village proposal negotiations- they've poison pilled the thing. When they couldn't get their way they very visibly tried to shape a local election, and failed. Please present any argument that validates your case outside of snide or shadowy references to knowledge you supposedly have? Otherwise I think it's very fair to claim you're being an idiotic troll, with strong potential that you're actually just a shill.Don't worry I have done enough research to know that it is Nenshi who without a doubt is the dcumbag in this scenario.
