Washington/NYR/Nashville tie for me.

I expected the Rangers to continue to be great, they were even good to start the year.

Washington I expected to continue to be mediocre.

Nashville I saw as a 5-8 team in the west, maybe at worst barely miss the playoffs.

They all had such drastic changes, it was pretty crazy, Rangers dropping 21 spots, Washington gaining 17 spots, Nashville dropping 17 spots.

Shouldn't Montreal be an option here?

In December they were in last place in the east.
At four nation break - they were tied for 2nd to last place in the east.

They haven't clinched a playoff spot as of this post, but are super close.
They could be but for me it's Washington being so dominant in the regular season, I mean who saw that coming?

Also Columbus and Calgary both overperformed a ton.

Canucks and NYR slipping wasn't a huge surprise really.

Boston? 135 (22-23) 1st OA, 109 (23-24) 7th OA, 75 (24-25) 29 OA, that's a big fall in just 2 years.

You tell me at the start of the season that the Habs will make the playoffs i laugh.
You tell me in Dec that the Habs will make the playoffs i even laugh harder.
Than at Four Nations i get told again that the Habs are making the playoffs.
I would not have bet a dime on it. Biggest surprise for me. My Habs making the playoffs and looking back at many threads it must have surprised a lot of you also.

Washington, I was expecting them to not even make the playoffs and Ovechkin to get less than 30 goals, yet here we are.

I'm giving this one too Ottawa. Vancouver had too many injuries.

Ottawa played well for a young team, made the playoffs was equally as good as the Leafs in every game.

The Rangers missing the playoffs when everyone was predicting a Stanley Cup Final appearance thus year, and their hot start, was surprising.

The Capitals being a top-5 team was equally surprising.

As a fan of a division rival I actually think it’s the Habs but the Caps deserve all the mentions they are getting. I also can’t believe the Rangers fell as far as they did on the “flip side” of the discussion.
