Someone who is highly talented but the way he plays the game he looks disinterested or like isn't trying his best but due the very cerebral game they play
You have no understanding of how Fedorov played. He took some games off offensively during the regular season, but was always top shelf defensively and any and all big games he was there full tilt. His entire Red Wing tenure, apart from one season, he was 1st or 2nd on the team in playoff scoring. He lived for big moments. Just couldn't always be bothered during the doldrums of the regular season. That doesn't seem to be remotely similar to what's going on with EP...

Depends what you value in a hockey player. Miller has been consistently great but EP40 is substantial better when both are performing.

I think most people would prefer consistently great (Miller). Personally, I think most fans (at least Canucks fans) vastly underrate how effective Pettersson is away from the puck even when the offense isn't there. The idea that Pettersson quits on his team is nonsense if you ask me. It's a classic case of somebody in his own head. Something akin to MacKinnon prior the hiring his sports therapist. And for that potential alone I take Pettersson every time especially considering, at worst, you'll get an excellent (albeit overpaid) two-way player.

Miller right now, EP40 in 1-3 years max if things go "as planned". Miller is more driven and has enough skill + xp to compete with EP.

Forgive the OT comment but we might need a Federov thread to educate the kids on his greatness. EP40 and JT Miller are light years away from comparing to him. Elite at every aspect of the game and can play any skater position at an elite level, skates like the wind and everything gets better in the playoffs.
