Who is Jason Zucker and why isn't anyone talking about him?

Been a total stud. Up to 18 now after that beauty of a breakaway. Made the big club occasionally the past year or two, but spent most of his time in the minors "refining his game". Seems to have paid off.

He's fast and he's a pure scorer. Not the best defensively but gives 100% all game. Been called a poor man's Parise by Wild fans.

Might win the Cy Young this year. Other than that how often do players who are 187th in points get talked about league wide?

Zucker does a mean ice bucket challenge.

Seriously though, he's probably the first guy the Wild have had since Gabby who has speed AND can score. It's refreshing.

I have put his name as of a few days back on the 2016 USA World Cup thread in International Tournaments. I think he is a serious name to consider as he is only getting better and goal scorers like him are hard to find...Palmieri seems to be doing the same Cy Young act as Zucker has been...both great young players.

I also remember after John Carlson scored in OT to beat Canada at the 2010 WJC, it was Zucker who flew off the bench and got to him first nearly crushing Carlson!! Kid could fly from anywhere apparently!

and he actually grew up in Nevada and not California...he was born in Cali, moved away for around 10-12 years then came back for a few years to play hockey before heading to the USNDP...that's where he came from ;)

Still can't figure out why they dont give him much PP time. Such a great shot, great skater, and on the PP there is less concern about D.

I know they have some other big names on offense, but it would seem to be a perfect fit for Zucker.

Simple answer: Yeo

He won't touch the first PP unit. Same thing happened when Nino was lighting it up early in the season. Even with our PP sucking at that time, he refused to put the kid out there. He won't touch that top unit even if he were offered 10 million bucks and a lifetime supply of beer. Seriously.

Seriously, where did he come from (other than California)?

easy

23 years old, not a rookie. playing in the outback minny, his 17 goals looks good, but the low 5 assists stick out and if you want to go DEEEEEp

Assists--436th in the league
PTs*--189th in the league
+/- is 737th in the league

goals is 25th---everything else in in triple digets

Fast as hell and has a good release. Not a surprise that his goals/assists are so lopsided, but he's not a useless passer or anything.

Also, probably leads the league in beating out icing calls.

Pssh, who cares about the most important thing in the game of hockey - GOALS

your numbers are pointless and stupid.

if you followed this kid at any point prior, passing isn't an issue. sometimes seasons like this happen, but the kid can fly and has amazing hands. I will take 18 goals any day of the week from a young kid like this...

Actually it is an issue,he has been quoted as saying....

"I'm not exactly a passer,I'm trying to get the puck on net and limit my passing"

That type of attitude may be ok if your knocking in 40-50 goals but when your only putting in 20-30 it seems a bit selfish and immature.Even the best scorers in the league also rack up a a good number of assists.I like Zucker and I like goals but he needs to improve the passing aspect of his game or double his goal production.

On a team like ours, that's exactly the attitude we should want'. It's nowhere near selfish or immature.

He's on pace for 32 goals at only 23. I'm ok with him wanting to shoot first if he's gong to score 35 goals.

It's not like he doesn't ever pass, he's just shoot-first. Which is a good thing.

Yeah - NHL coaches hate guys with shoot first mentalities. Ones that put every puck they touch on net. What is Zucker thinking anyways - it is not like goals these days are ever scored off rebounds. He will probably be back in Vegas playing roller hockey next season.
