Flip a coin between one of the first four. Those are the only contenders.

Think Draisaitl has a good chance. And if McDavid solves his allergies to EN's, he'll probably pick it up enough in the 2nd half to win yet another Ross.

I’ll take MacKinnon here. Wouldn’t be surprised if any of them win though, especially McDavid or Kucherov.

is the competition tougher now then during the Crosby ovi era? quite possibly making mcdavids resume even more impressive

Between 2006-2010 Crosby’s competition was tougher(peak Ovi). 2011-2016 the competition was definitely easier for Crosby after Ovechkin changed his playstyle to a pure sniper & Malkin started getting injured.

Big Three of Crosby Malkin Ovechkin was better competition than we have today.

Nobody aside from McDavid is quite in their level.

Mackinnon, Kucherov and McDavid are far superior competition wise. They are poiny producing beasts, the other 3 only really competed with eachother seriously for like 3 years.bexause they couldn't stay healthy outside of Ovechkin and their peaks barely lined up

Going McDavid. Assuming health, he’s usually better in the second half of the season.

But I do hope Drai gets another one.

I was looking at #s a bit more closely the past couple of days, and although I like Drai and think he's fantastic overall, and definitely has been this year, I'm starting to wonder if he's simply a step behind the other 3 at their best.

Draisaitl's best ppg ever in a season was 1.60 - in 22-23, the year McDavid got 153 points. He was a distant 2nd at 128, powered a lot by McDavid that season.

After that - 2020, 1.55 ppg (110 in 71 games).

Mcdavid's best ppg's are - 1.88, 1.87, 1.74
Kucherov's best ppg's are - 1.78, 1.59, 1.56
MacKinnon's best ppg's are - 1.71, 1.57, 1.56
Draisaitl's best is - 1.60, 1.55, 1.50 (he's at 1.49 so far this season)

If any of these 4 players take off in the 2nd half and race towards ~135-140+ points, I'm not sure Draisaitl will be able to keep up. I think the other 3 would be able to.

Draisaitl's best shot at an Art Ross is if it gets won in the ~120-125 point range. Anything higher, and he likely gets lapped.
