I'm always taken back how many say Manrer easily - the two players have very similar hockey CVs at this point.

I'd say it's pretty much even. I give the edge to Nylander myself because I see him eventually settling down as a centre - while Marner is clearly going to be a winger in the NHL.

The difference defensively between the two (I've been saying this since the start) is big enough to say Marner's clearly the better one right now. Not that it matters though since they're both studs.

Tied for me.

Recency bias has told everyone that Marner's first two games have made him better, but they're forgetting how good Nylander was in his first two games PLAYING CENTER. We have to remember that Nylander when he plays wing is much more of a passenger compared to when he plays C because he's the type of player where the play has to go through him to show his true value.

I guess everyone has their preference though, they're both studs.

Like the title says. In a vacuum, who holds the highest value out of these two?

Easily Marner.

Marner has a great 200 ft game, is tenacious and hands entering Kane territory (not as good, but getting there). He drives a line that has a consistent 40pt centre and former 30 goal scorer at a young age while being physical immature. He has the best vision on the Leafs (yes, better vision than Matthews) and is among the highest hockey IQ on the team. His actual IQ isn't so great from interviews I've seen but could be just youth coming through.

Nylander is great on his own merits, but takes shifts off. He can be a perimeter player, which I feel he is working on. I would say he has the better wrist shot today.

Leafs are blessed to have both, but Marner is by far the better player.
