When in doubt, always take the center over the winger.

Well... both are C/W

Marner's game better suits C while Nylander has played C consistently, but both are currently playing W and likely 1 of the two (more likely Nylander) will be shifted to C.

Edge for marner.... because of his energy, on defense, forecheck and offense. The guy is a Waterbug out there. He even lined up Marchand for a big hit, Marchand saw it last second and put his stick in Marner's face to defend against it, resulting in a penalty.

Very slight edge to Nylander.

But wouldn't want either to be traded unless the very best RHD prospect was coming back.

Marner is a far better player on the wing IMO. That said I don't see much difference in value. Marner is probably the more skilled of the two but Nylander has the edge being a center.

Before I watched Marner in the NHL I would've said Nylander. Marner it just so good of a player. He plays physical, plays good defense, and has a hell of an engine. I don't see Marner busting if he plays the way he has in the last 2 games. Might've went off topic, but tbh I think Marner holds more value

Marner is a more complete, consistent and is a more crafty player imo. Kind of like Jeff Skinner in a way. Willy is more explosive, probably a better skater and has a better shot though. If Nylander can develop more consistency in his game and be an effective player defensively it should be really close, but for now Id go with Marner.

Marners game is much much better suited for the wing.

Marners game is much much better suited for the wing.

A strong defensive player who prefers to get in close and doesn't shy away from the corners rather than staying to the periphery?

I mean he plays better on the wing, but he has all the attributes of a C

I would say Marner. While both have high end potential, I don't think Nylander will be on the same tier.

I'm always taken back how many say Manrer easily - the two players have very similar hockey CVs at this point.

I'd say it's pretty much even. I give the edge to Nylander myself because I see him eventually settling down as a centre - while Marner is clearly going to be a winger in the NHL.

I love them both, but I genuinely see something special. Once in a while type thing when it comes to Marner. The way he sees the ice is scary good. It's gotten to the point where I jokingly question if he has eyes in the back of his head. Bozak and JVR on multiple occasions don't even understand how he was able to get the puck on their stick on some passes. They still have yet to adjust. So for me, Marner holds more value.

Personally I value Marner more, but both are very good. Happy to have either.
