As a STH for Caps I nominate us for some of the worst arena music in the league

We use to have an organ player but our owner let him go. What do we play instad? Recycled pop rock and wailing anthems like "Wonderwall". ANDDDD MAYBBEEEEEEEEEEE YOU'RE GONNA BE THE ONE THAT SAVEEEEESSSSS MEEEEEEE

That music belongs nowhere near a damn hockey game tbh. Caps just pipe in generic tunes expecting everyone to sing along. I am a homer but I cannot in good conscience get behind this music bs. Caps up there for worst music

Toronto always seems to have particular annoying new pop / rap stuff going when I watch their games. Not my thing so I'll nominate them for worst.

On the flip side, feel like Montreal's in game music is more adventurous. They always seem like a good answer for doing things right in gameday experience.

Homer vote for the Kings. Dieter Ruehle is the organist for the LA Kings and the LA Dodgers, and has also played in the past for the SJ Sharks and the LA Lakers, played at several Olympics, etc. The Kings also play a lot of canned music, but Dieter elevates the whole experience.

And they MUST play that annoying ass Akon song so fans can go "WEE WOOO" (as if that does anything).

I'd rather listen to 10 hours of an organist playing random songs than 10 seconds of that God forsaken song.

Any arena playing rap or country music.

Not that i don't like that music, love Country, but they sure as hell don't remind me of hockey and would feel out of place while at a hockey game.

Nashville gets a pass on the Country music however.

I've wondered why do so many arenas play the same songs. There indeed must be rights issues for the NHL, as it's just too coincidental. I also get really irritated that it seems to be on the exact same schedule every game. (Ducks) And of course, they stop the music so the crowd can sing the chorus.

Some of my least favorite

My own worst enemy - Lit --- (personally the most annoying, as it get stuck in my head)
Livin' on a prayer - Bon Jovi
Queen/Eddie Mercury - Ay-oh
Take me home, country roads - John Denver

Who the hell is Eddie Mercury?

He always mixes in some Depeche Mode which takes me a few moments to identify.

I'll second a previous post with Dallas. I've only seen one game there and I can't remember any particular songs, but I just remember a good selection of hard rock that was right up my alley.

Probably not unique to Anaheim, but I was always annoyed by the arena always using "Desire" by U2 during a close game.

If I never any of the unholy trio of "Sweet Child O' Mine/Paradise City/Welcome To The Jungle" again in a hockey arena it will be too soon.

My Best-Carey

I'm a GNR fan but never cared for Paradise City. During their initial comeback tour ~2016, I took a look at the set list and picked an opportune time to leave early. They close with Paradise City, so I was more than happy to leave that one on the table if it meant not being stuck in traffic on a work night. I was in bed when I got a frantic phone call from my friends who stayed until the end; There was some issue with the public transit so they were stuck at the stadium and were looking for a ride. After I hung up, I thought to myself "I hope Paradise City was worth it." [/coolstorybro]

Visited over 80% of the NHL's arenas and gotta say...

They mostly all sound the same. Songs from the 80s and 90s for longer tracks or otherwise the old-timer classics. Some of them still employ in-arena organists which add a little flavour with their own selections.

Just like the overall hockey demographic, it's pretty generic... If anything, it should be the fans attending that make the atmosphere special but it's mostly the same chants and behaviours everywhere too. Wish the good parts of European sports fan culture made it over the pond.

MSG has been better late it but historically one of the worst

Pearl Jam is one for the “bad” ledger

Pains me as a Devils fan to credit anything at the Garden but on of the most surreal moments I have had watching a hockey game as realizing the organist was playing something by Frank Zappa on one of the breaks (and a song that if I was there and singing the lyrics out loud in the building it would get me kicked out of the building no less)

Bobby Brown I presume? That must have been great.

I've regularly filled out the season ending surveys for the Red Wings, and have always clicked extremely dissatisfied about the music selection.

If you go to 3 games, you've heard every single song in their playlist.

My biggest gripe was remixing older rock songs, like Smells Like Teen Spirit, and mixing in drum and bass house music.

Flyers easily the best.

Reed Streets is the man. The emo night was amazing:

Seems to me most sporting events play the same kinda music. They had Gojira at The Olympics. I'm not of fan of theirs specifically but at least it was something out of the box!

You go to the game and you're gonna hear Nickelback, AC/DC and Cotton-Eyed Joe

I've never been impressed with my own teams choice of music.

Sweet Caroline is such a shit song. I have no idea why that shit is popular. Poison by BBD is an overrated song that gets played at every game. I don't really want to hear Katy Perry music at a Hockey game. I'm not a fan of the Blink-182 type of Rock music

Personally I like organ music and would do without a DJ
