As a Leaf fan I figure it has to be us for worst, just heard KSI at our arena, on par with the usual energyless slop/garbage that gets played. Washington was really bad too from what I recall

Montreal and Philly on the other hand had awesome music, great rock/rap from what I recall.

So who else is good/bad with the arena music?

Probably the whole league tied for last. Everyone copycats everyone else and surely the league does bulk deals for the rights to all the video clips. Boringly homogenized experience in Gary Bettman 's NHL

Though the arenas with a live organist do automatically go ahead of the ones who don't.

Any Arena that they ever play rap in, during a hockey game of course, is one I wouldn't set my foot in. I can just about tolerate electronic music, edm etc during intermissions but gotta draw the line somewhere.

Flyers have improved. Brought back an organist, Michael Brinkworth in 2022 after 9 years without one, and the rest of the music has improved. Dallas has the best DJ but no organ. I think Toronto has a good balance, their organist is good and he plays a lot. STL probably uses the organ the most and he's good too.

Chicago seems to play Pearl Jam a lot which is good, but they still have Chelsea Dagger for a goal song so they're a net negative.

Chicago plays TOOL so they’re okay in my book.

As a Bruins fan, every now and then I hear a song at the Garden that makes me think “hey it’s cool they’re playing that” but it’s otherwise just the same AC/DC, Nickelback nonsense that’s become a staple in all arenas over the decades.

Will second the live organist making a huge difference. I also enjoy the teams that will stick to local stuff, even when it's maybe not the most popular (@CapOne -- more Go-Go, Fugazi, even Wale please!)

The big complaint that I have -- every team is getting too cute/trendy with the same songs and effects for reviews and penalties. The biggest offender by far is the Mario 1-up after killing a penalty. Cool and interesting the first time a team did it (I'm not sure which) but insane that it's become the default thing to do now

I've heard Thrice a fair amount watching Bruins games.

But I don't think you should expect to step foot in an arena looking for a good DJ experience.

Gonna have songs for the kids, gonna have pump up tunes, it's all a mixed bag really.

Boston played Waiting Room by Fugazi a few times ... against the Caps

I wonder if that was visiting team specific or just coincidental that they played that old tune of a DC band w DC visiting

Cap One Arena - all jock rock the handful of games I go to a year

About 5 years ago, I'd agree with you. But our literally beloved DJ took a job with the Texas Rangers and his replacement sucks.

He always seems to fit "Friends in Low Places" in there, usually during 3rd period stoppages, plus one or two other songs that the fans are able to continue once play resumes.

Every arena seems to play a mix of dadrock, millenial pop hits and KSI thick of it/other recent slop. One time I heard Kalmah. That was pretty cool. Never expected to hear that during a game 😆

About a decade ago the Caps used I Think I Lost My Headache by Queens of the Stone Age for a montage of fights and hits, so at least whoever they had/have making their videos has good taste. It’s a weird f***in song, not one I ever thought I’d hear out in the wild, but it fit perfectly.

As for the basic between-whistles stuff, is there really that much variance arena to arena? I’ve only been to a handful of stadiums besides Capital One, but I can’t say I ever noticed much difference.

I've wondered why do so many arenas play the same songs. There indeed must be rights issues for the NHL, as it's just too coincidental. I also get really irritated that it seems to be on the exact same schedule every game. (Ducks) And of course, they stop the music so the crowd can sing the chorus.

Some of my least favorite

My own worst enemy - Lit --- (personally the most annoying, as it get stuck in my head)
Livin' on a prayer - Bon Jovi
Queen/Eddie Mercury - Ay-oh
Take me home, country roads - John Denver
