I was born in Memphis, TN, one of 4 regional areas known for great BBQ in America (the others being Kansas City, MO; The Carolinas; and Texas.) I'll be heading to Memphis in May this year to see the International BBQ Competition on Riverside Dr. It got me thinking; Which region in the USA or Canada (they got some good BBQ, I hear) has the best BBQ in North America? I might include Mexico if they have BBQ.

I'll have to be biased and say Memphis. They have two types of ribs ("wet" or "dry" ribs) and pulled pork sandwiches (though I don't eat said sandwiches with the traditional cole slaw as a topping). Although I didn't get into Memphis BBQ until the turn of the Millennium.

I would like to see your thoughts on which region is better.

there's a place near Lawton/Fort Sill that beats the crap out of any other BBQ I've ever had.

Some of the best bbq comes from the north, but good luck telling a bunch of self righteous rednecks that a yankee can out cook them.

not to stick up for the self righteous rednecks, but southern rednecks are better at BBQ because the increase in sunlight/heat flavors the animals for proper BBQing, plus God favors the south instead of you devil worshiping northerners.

I lived in the southern UK for a spell and had the same conversation with devil worshiping northerners all the time.

I don't ask for much from you people except your damn honesty and direct question answering. I ask you something not out of hate but out of curiosity. If you don't have the dignity to respond humanely what am I expected to do other than make assumptions.

The south kills the north. Was in NC for a while and they had amazing bbq. Can't get that up here or even the northern states.
