I think McDonagh signs first honestly. Either way, the Rangers are going to sign all 3 players. We have more than enough cap room (almost 15M).. We could almost give Mcd/Step/Hags/Clowe 4M each, and Hags won't sniff 4M.. We are fine.

Where is John Moore?

You are spot on Kershaw. Stepan will be closer to 4 million and it will not surprise me if Stepan gets a longer deal.

Well Dubi and Cally got 4.2m and they weren't nearly as good as Stepan when he was extended.

He can simply say, look at what an inferior player in ROR got, and ask for that.

I wish we extended him a month ago when he was finally getting into his groove. I wanted to get both McD and Stepan identical 6 yrs at 24mil, but I think they'll get more than that.

That would only give us 20 players. We would need to add 2 or 3 more.

Good luck signing Stepan to a bridge contract. I'd be perfectly happy with $4MM X 4 years. Look at what O'Reilly got. It could end up higher.

McDonagh will probably get Staal money. Well earned.

Hagelin is having a bad year, yeah right. Fortunately it's probably not good enough to exceed del Zotto $.

$10MM for these three guys...and then 4-4.5MM for Clowe.

I would love to sign Stepan to a 4 year deal or so worth approximately 4M, but I think Sather still gets him on the bridge contract. He's not gonna hold out, and unless he gets an OS, he's got no leverage.

move Pyatt and Asham to get under the cap

I don't know if we will see Stepan signed before the two arbitration eligible guys. Those deals are a little bit less predictable, so Sather won't know what kind of cap situation he's looking at until those guys get locked up.

My guess is that he'd prefer to keep all the guys who are already signed for next year. Speaking specifically of Pyatt, Boyle and Asham. Signing the guys with more leverage first will give a better picture on whether or not he needs to make a deal.

Again, guessing... but I see it being Hagelin -> McDonagh -> Stepan

ppg center won't make 2.75m.

0.82 =/= 1.00

Not saying Steps will make $2.75m, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him on a $3m-$3.5m deal.

Logan Couture got a $2.875m deal for 2 years after putting up 56 in 79. On the other hand, Nick Foligno is over $3m for far less. Desharnais got $3.5m over 4 after a 60 point season. Matt Duchene signed for $3.5m over 2 with the expectation he'd return to the form that got him 67 points in 80 (which he did). I'm expecting more in the mid $3m area. Not $4m.

I hate to harp on you, but this analysis is a little off. Dubinsky signed his extension after having lead the team in scoring. His RFA years also only cost $3.875m, but since the contract ate two UFA years, it inflated the cap hit. Callahan signed his extension after scoring at basically the same pace that Stepan has scored at this year (48 pts in 60 games = 65 points in 82 games). His RFA years cost $4m, but his contract ate one UFA year. Plus, both players were signing deals that weren't bridge contracts. Both players were arbitration eligible and signed just before their hearings, something that won't be the case with Stepan.

The ROR contract is a poor indicator too, since it was inflated by the offer sheet.

Steps deal will be the hardest one to get done IMO. There is no doubt in my mind that he will get a offer sheet if it ever gets that far. That could cost Sather a lot more than 3.5 million. I am not saying we should pay Step 6.5 million but it just happened 3 months ago in the ROR deal and thats what Eberle, Hall, Skinner, Eakman Larson i would think that 4 -4,5 a year for four years would get it done. There is not one UFA center available this summer hat is worth a crap and the Whale has no one.

I don't think Sather can take a chance on Stepan.I would think that Stepan would be the priority and then get Mac done then Hags. It should be a busy summer for Sather.

No doubt in your mind on an offer sheet on Stepan, huh? I have pretty huge doubts that anyone will offer sheet a Ranger as long as Sather is the GM.

Why, is he prt of the Mafia? There is not one UFA'S center available this summer tht is worth a sh.. That's why it's in the CBA. It protects the player in this exact situation. I will bet you that Colorado neverbthoughtnthre would be one either. If he gets one like ROR got we can't afford Mac, hags, and Clowe. Sather needs to be careful here.

Why is that such a stretch.? When u see the other players in this league getting that kind of money it would not surprise me t all. Stepan ha out played all those guys this yer!!

Even if we don't, I think GMs around the league respect Sather too much. You're talking about Colorado when it took a month of a hold out for an offer sheet to even come? One that wouldn't have even happened had the Calgary GM realized that ROR would've had to clear waivers? If Stepan makes it into a holdout, maybe I could see an offer sheet then. We aren't going to see one over the summer.
