Who else has very little interest in the Four Nations tournament?

I like being proven wrong about the competitiveness of a tournament like this. Still a huge mistake in not at least including Czechia but the passion of playing for your country is there.

I hope Finland defies the odds and wins it all but Uncle Gary wouldn't be best pleased.

Oh, and that Cosby assist was so sexy. Great way to start a tourney.

Watching McDavid --> Crosby --> Mackinnon goal or sick drop pass from Sid to Marner for the OT winner.... anyone still crying about this? Prefer to be watching game 58 of Predators vs Blue Jackets?

I mean, that's coming anyways but this is a great mid-season respite.

That was electric. You're not a hockey fan if you had "very little interest" in that game.

TBH, I didn't have that much interest until I started watching it, Montreal crowd was amazing, Sid's passion, McDavid's speed, thought it was amazing hockey and a lot of fun. Now I can't wait until the Saturday night game Canada vs. U.S. I'll take this anytime over All-Star Game and Skills Competition.

I wouldn’t even know all four teams playing in it without looking it up. It’s cool to see the NHL trying something different but I’d be more interested if it was toward the end of the off season to give us some hockey to look forward to in the summer.

The hockey will almost always be better in February because the players are in mid-season conditioning and mental space. The downside, honestly, is that the tournament has to be a little shorter.

Luckily, the players didn't view it that way. They were going balls to the wall. But hey, if people want to miss out on great hockey- then more power to them.

Good on the multi-millionaires for trying their best.

The U18 CZE-SUI game I watched instead was entertaining as well. Swiss went up 3-1 and Czechs rallied in the third to tie it, then Poletin won it in OT on a penalty shot. Great hockey with max effort from both teams. Then I watched SJU-Nova and it came down to the wire. Great game.

All Im saying is, I was surprised at how hard they were playing. If you love hockey, then youre missing out. Maybe the intensity dies down as the tourney progresses, but if it continues at this level of play? From one fan of hockey to another- I'd recommend tuning in, especially for Canada vs the US. So much talent on both squads, and if theyre giving 110%, then we won't witness something this intense until the Olympics.

Some people are just Extremely boring and resists all the new things.

”It was the fastest game i have ever played in” - Drew Doughty

”That is as high-end a game as youre going to find” - Connor McDavid

@Cryptoguy missing your allstars games?

Considering team Canada is supposed to beat everyone 38-0 not sure why other teams bother showing up. No interest in the team Canada ball washing.

I don't care about international hockey very much. I don't pay to go see Team USA multiple times a year, I pay to see the Sharks.

I don't care about the Olympics or World Baseball Classic or whatever else either. I don't root for players based on the fact that they happened to be born in the same geographical region I was and I don't care about Matthews or McDavid or Crosby except insofar as I need to when we play them. I'm not an NHL fan, I'm a Sharks fan.
So you only cheer for the guys who a billionaire owner rented to play for his team/business? Surely that's more meaningful than cheering for your country.

I've been a hockey fan long enough to think I've seen it all. I will admit that I've been waiting for this current USA crop to strut their stuff in a best-on-best like the Olympics or WCOH, but omitting the Russians and Czechs cheapened the Four Nations to the point of disinterest. It was a silly and senseless move and I can't get over the fact that many of the game's most electrifying players won't be there. The media and league yammering incessantly these past few months has intensified my lack of enthusiasm. I watch all kinds of hockey every day and I get just as excited for a bare-knuckle NCAA or U20 game as I do for the NHL.

TBH, I'm too busy with the draft stuff. I'll probably watch USA-CAN on demand a few months from now. I'm sure the quality of play is worth everyone's time, but life will go on regardless.

The Swedes, Finns and and Czechs were never going to show up for a tournament with Russia. So the the only realistic option would have been a 3 nation tournament anyway. This is the best possible tournament at this point in time in my estimation.

I just watch the 30 minute replays or the Youtube streamers recap of the games.
Not very interesting to watch full games, that's just me though, enjoy if ya like. :)

The #2 (and top goal scorer) and #3 scorers in the league are excluded off the jump. It’s hard to get excited for that. I also don’t really see any outcome where it isn’t a Canada/USA final. It won’t be any different in the Olympics either. These guys don’t play and train together to win international glory anymore. It will be hard for any nation to top USA and Canada. Canada needs to produce a goalie or two.

Would Russia really be a serious threat in this tournament if they weren’t (rightfully) excluded? Terrible center depth. Very mediocre on defense. Strongest on the wing and in net.

They’d be a speed bump for any of these four teams anyway.
I'm pretty confident that they would be a better team than Finland, only spot the fins have an upper hand is center depth....

Panarin - Malkin - Kucherov
Kaprizov - Barbashev - Svechnikov
Ovechkin - Buchnevich - Marchenko
Nichushkin - Namestnikov - Michkov
Voronkov/Dorofeyev

Sergachev - Orlov
Provorov - Gavrikov
Mintyukov - Zadorov
Romanov - Zub

Shesterkin
Vasilevskiy
Sorokin

Who is else is joining me on NoWatch Island after 2 days? I heard someone say these are the 2 best games they ever watched. I looked at them and asked, were you watching a pair of quarterfinal games from 1994? No answer as of yet.

Praise be to he (2014 Kings/Sharks WCQF)

The games have been great. People become so tribalistic, I don't know why. We all have our ideas on how the format could be better, but at the end of the day this is some of the best hockey in the world. If you like hockey, you like good hockey, this is good hockey.
