Who else has very little interest in the Four Nations tournament?

I have little interest in watching my mailman deliver mail, I would say I have negative interest in this considering my only concern is a potential injury for one of my teams(potential) players

The Olympics boycotting Russia is one thing, which btw I think will be overturned by 2026 but NHL boycotting NHL players from their made up tournament is stupid af. It will likely also piss of Russians from future ASGs and such. Just seems like a huge slap in the face.

I guess I didn’t answer your question, so for me it’s a hard no. Not excited at all, and likely won’t even tune in. Hoping no injuries to Matthews, Marner, Nylander otherwise grfo with this shit

Individual russians aint the same as Russia. And we realy dont know what teamates think. On a team. You are on the same boat, just paddle or sink.
I cant imagine that the players and fans have been acting in bad faith this entire time as to suddenly draw the line on something so arbitrary

Let them be pissed , who cares. NHL can do what they please. I would have loved it if they made a Nordic team with Finland Sweden Norway and Denmark. Its just a fake tournament anyway.

I could not care less if russia is in or out in this, or any other tournament.

It's sort of like the NBA in season tournaments. Someone starts to explain them to me, then I zone out halfway through the explanation. I won't watch either.

Honestly,

I’m not sure how you can call yourself a fan of hockey if you’re not looking forward to best on best hockey for the first time in about a decade… lol

Just complain about everything, everything sucks. lol.

I’m looking forward to it.

It’s about time we see some best on best. Period.

It's not "best on best" at all but an apartheid tournament. You might as well call the annual World Championships "best on best", then. Those interest me, but the upcoming apartheid tournament is firmly on my ignore list.

The NHL's idea here is not for this to be a one-off tournament. It's to get it off the ground and expand it to the rest of the international community down the road. Preferably as soon as 2028.
Heh, no. They're not going to share their profits with anyone. And without that there's not going to be expansion beyond at most 5-6 teams given that there aren't nearly enough NHL players for more.

As is the case in any supposed Best on Best/All-Star/Whatever you want to call it/tournament, it all comes down to how much the players care.

If the players care, i don't really care who the teams are or what the tournament is called. I want to watch it.

They have zero reason to care. It's just some afternoon pond hockey for them.

It's a nice little warmup for the 2026 Olympics but I don't think anyone's taking it seriously as a best on best with no Russia (or Czech Republic or Slovakia).

The last best on best tournament he played in was the 2015 WJC a decade ago.

(By best on best I mean the WJC is basically the Olympics for the U20 players, i.e. its the best young players in the world playing against each other)

It’s curious how this is gospel for most. Yeah, the WJC is closer to best-on-best than the IIHF world’s, but still, many of the best eligible players in any given year will play in the NHL instead of the WJC. McDavid would have been teammates with Nathan Mackinnon in 2015 if it truly was a best-on-best.

Who cares. Even if it was just USA vs Canada best on best thats enough for any real fan of the sport to get excited. I guarantee you and everyone here will watch it.

Gary Bettman and the owners have effectively killed my love for international hockey. Look at my username. Vancouver 2010 and Salt Lake City 2006 is probably the best hockey I’ve ever watched.

I’ll tune in begrudgingly, but a BS 4 team invitational that isn’t IIHF sanctioned is garbage. Almost as bad as “Team Europe” and “Team North America u23”
