I was vacillating among Frondell, Hagens, and Martone but went with Hagens. I think I am pretty confident that one of those will be available, just a matter of which one and if the Flyers don't pick someone dumb.

At least 1 person here understands what this team needs.

I'm surprised you have Desnoyers in your top 5 picks for the flyers honestly. What changed your mind on him? I don't have the PHLY subscription so I havent gotten to read your article yet.

Nothing changed really.

Had him behind Hagens, Martone and Frondell all year.

Article on Desnoyers is up on Monday I think.

I dont dislike him, I just dont believe his 90th centile outcome is more than a cusp 1C who gets ~75 points... whereas the 90th centile outcomes for Hagens, Martone and Frondell are all a more impactful NHLer.

Then if I consider floor I think his floor is also below those three.

The more I watch and learn about some of these guys, the more comfortable I am with the 6th pick. I would be happy with any one of Hagens, Frondell, Martone, or Desnoyers. I just hope we don't end up in a situation where Hagens is available, but we pass because we feel we need more size (having recently drafted smaller guys in Michkov and Luchanko). Or pass up on Martone for a guy like Brady Martin or O'Brien because we want a C so badly. I'm a proponent of the "best player available" strategy.

That said, I'm no expert and I'll have to trust that the scouts and mgmt know better than me. It will be interesting to look at this poll in 5 years and see how dumb we all look then.

Misa and Schaefer go one and two. That's a given.
From what the press is indicating, Desnoyers is a riser; gone by four. Sort of surprises me since his wrists are bit of an issue. Instead of hurting his status, clubs (Hawks) are impressed by his performance by playing through the problem.
Someone will go for Martone or off of the reservation with Martin.
That could leave the Flyers picking between Hagens and Frondell. I'm for taking the Swede but would not be surprised if when it's all said and done that somehow Hagens is a Flyer.

Honestly, this is best case scenario with the 6th pick. Originally I would have gone Frondell but I have been getting more in on Hagens recently but either I think are greeat picks at least on paper.

Forgot to do my order...

Schaefer/Misa
Hagens/Martone
Frondell/Eklund
Desnoyers
anyone not one of those seven names and I'm throwing a fit.
I guess McQueen, Potter, Smith, or Bear could be justified if you dont want desnoyers and the first six are gone... but definitely reaches... Seeing as two teams are likely to deviate here from my top six, they should be able to get one of those top 6 guys.

EDIT: Not as high on Desnoyers simply because he doesn't have that same 1st line probability those other six have. Very Likely a good 2C though, and if those 1st line potential guys are gone, dont look the gift horse in the mouth.

I was thinking on an idea. What if Hagens is available at #6 and the Islanders were interested in moving something to acquire the pick. Let’s say a top 3 protected 1st in 2026 and Noah Dobson for #6 and Zamula or something like that. The Islanders would still have a 2026 first rounder(Colorado) and they get there Hometown kid, plus Schaefer. We the Flyers could still move up with our other picks and take a faller(Eklund,Bear, etc). We would have Dobson also and another 1st rounder in 2026. Just an idea. Not sure the islanders would give up that much. Anyway, have at it. Lol

Ok but why do all that if we can just take Hagens?

Dobson is already 25 which for our timeline is pretty old.

If Hagens/Martone were gone then I could see the argument for trading down but if one of those two are there, you definitely take them.
