Doesn't matter whom the Leafs select, as Dubas will claim that the player they took they had him rated as a 1st rounder and would have taken him at #25 if they used their own pick.

However If Leafs dealt the pick to Ottawa for former Soo Greyhound goalie Matt Murray now that he has some free up cap from dumping Mrazek. that wouldn't really surprise anyone either I suppose.
OTT was willing to move down from 7 to 16 + retain salary in order to dump Murray, but the Leafs would have had to use a pick to acquire him?

Owen Beck. Would have been good with him at 25.

Otherwise go D. I'd be content with any of Chesley/Warren/Luneau. Potentially trade down a little further in this case.

Do not want DBB at all.

It’s not even worth trying to make sense of mess, it’s an abomination that they’re allowed to be a moderator. It’s a f***ing embarrassment to the fan base tbh

Trade Holl for a 2nd take firkus & Hutson and watch the usual suspects absolutely melt.

Chesley or Gleb but i want to see Hutson so the board can have a meltdown over his height.
He's 5'8?!?!?

I’m really curious about this bone growth delay, because it sounds like the kid has first round talent. Understanding his game isn’t rounded out.
If he shoots up 3-4 inches and gets around 200lbs with his talent, he’s a steal.

I see at least 8 names that I’ve heard good enough things about that they were worth considering at 25.
Same tier.
For name value, it’s obviously Jagger.

Gleb is my #1. Then probably Hutson. His bone density documents at the combine made me like him even more lmao. I really like the idea of Beck too. Hoping Del Bel Belluz is off the board before the leafs pick.

I just hope Lambert doesn't pan out of Winnipeg, thats who I would have taken at our pick, it's going to sting if he does so now I'm rooting against a young mans success, I'm a very good guy lol.
We don't like Paul Marner or Michael Nylander that much here and I think Lamberts father is way worse. His been shopping his kid around for three seasons in Finland and it always end up being catastrophe for that club that is signing him with high hopes.

He has tools but I don't think he can get the toolbox, since it would demand some humility that they really don't seem to have.

Goyette, Warren or Firkus is the only acceptable way I’ll be happy. Either way, they are going to lie and say whoever they chose was in their top 15. And most of the fan base will eat it up.

Whoever they pick better be a promising prospect.

Trikizov, Firkus, and Chesley are my top 3 picks. However there’s about 8 names left I’d be completely fine with such as Goyette, Beck, Del Bel Belluz, Leneau and Warren.

I voted Firkus. Size be damned. We went "small" and got Mitch Marner. We took Korshkov over Debrincat the next draft and look how that worked out. Some team is going to be lucky to have Firkus imo. But plenty of solid options for us today

I'm good with Beck, Firkus, DBB, Goyette... probably could have another 2-3 guys I'd have high interest in too.

I would have been sold on any of those guys at 25 or 38 tbh. I like the idea of 30g 70 pts base for a CHL player at this point from just a stat watching perspective.

No reason we can't find a hit here. Usually one of these guys becomes a star.

This regime has done well lately with 2nd round picks, so I'll trust whoever they take with #38.

Not sure what I'm more excited for, the pick? Or the coming collective meltdown on this board.

I think Trikizov will be the best out of the players left, I just don’t see Dubas drafting a Russian so high and with limited draft picks this year given everything going on in Russia unfortunately. Firkus definitely seems like the next best so that’s who I’m hoping for as well.

Just a thought…..

Rogers Communications are down across the country - Internet and phone.

The Bell Centre in Montreal likely has Bell Internet, and there could be wifi, but any GM who use a Rogers cellular service can’t call the ‘war room’ to liaise with scouts or others who are not at the draft table.

There may be enough land lines at every table, and perhaps it’s not an issue, but I wonder all the same if the second round might even have to be delayed until the Rogers issues are resolved ?

Entertaining times for sure and I'm with you, I'll be fine with whoever they pick.
Today starts earlier?
